wellsprop
Hi all, Another one off the production line for my 1/48 Fleet Air Arm jet collection! I actually completed this nearly 2 months ago, but I've only recently got around to photographing it. Quite a challenging build to say the least, the only additions were a resin ejection seat and 3D printed rockets. I brush painted it with Hataka acrylics and weathered using a mixture of MIG panel line wash and MIG oils - I'm very pleased with the weathering results Finished with airbrushed winsor and newton galleria satin acrylic varnish. The sea vixen is quite an imposing aircraft and has a certain unique look to it - very happy to have this one in my collection! Thanks for looking! Farmerboy
Impressive brush painting and an impressive model, curious why you sprayed the varnish and hand painted the main paint job?

Ngantek
Lovely neat finish on a beautiful aircraft. What was challenging about it? I'm new back to the hobby but would have been all about this kit when it came out.

The sprue gate on the canopy is also on the main clear part, so that needed cleaning up and varnishing. That said, I think it makes a beautiful Sea Vixen, and it certainly looks better than the Trumpeter offering!
ColinChipmunkfan
A great model and top notch painting- as you say a 'unique aircraft'- not pretty- but unique.🙂 Colin
Marcello Rosa
This is excellent, thanks for sharing. I am looking for one to build, but these are harder to find than hen's teeth. I am hoping that Airfix will release it again, perhaps with a new tool like they did with the Buccaneer.
Maginot
Really looks the job. Nice work. In 1964 I was witness as a 9-year old to HMS Victorious (R38) in Singapore Harbour roads as our immigrant ship moored close by on the way to Australia. I well remember a mouth-watering array of aircraft ranged on deck. This magnificent spectacle featured in a now lost Super 8mm cine film shot by my Dad, so I was able to review the aircraft at leisure as I grew up and became more familiar with FAA types. Sea Vixen featured prominently in the van at the bows; Buccaneers, Scimitars, Gannets and Wessexes ranged further aft. This once mighty ship and its complement of aircraft epitomised aircraft carrier and naval air group to that impressionable young observer. Still does. Scuse any historical inaccuracies, but this is how I remember it.

azscearsy
Fantastic, the Sea Vixen is a favourite of mine and you have done it proud. The hand brushed painting is amazing too.
bigbadbadge
Lovely looking Sea Vixen Ben, great work on this. I liked the kit, although converted mine to a FAW.1 using the Alley Cat conversion. Great brushwork fella. Chris

Pantherhawk27263
That is a wonderful job on a truly unique looking aircraft. I love the 50's and 60's British designs. They all have such character.

Britman
Really nice Ben , it would look great with a COD Gannet! What's the gen on the Hataka paint? I have been using Humbrol enamel for years and now and it would seem that I need a fall back. Keith
