Vickers Commercial

Recommended Posts

Hello!

Well, I managed to finish the Vimy trilogy. The model represents one of the first passenger aircraft and was Vickers Commercial around 1922.

The model is made by MSD and is a very old casting from Frog with a new fuselage and some additional parts. There is almost nothing left of the set in the box, but the one used is completely reworked, all other parts are scratch-built. I had to extend the fuselage by 11 mm so that I could make the cabin door or the plane the right length. Once again, I show the construction from start to finish so that at least a part of the work invested in the model can be seen. The scale model is 1/72. I used Windsock Datafile Special - Vickers Vimy (J M Bruce) and internet resources.

Greetings

It looks to me as if you have made excellent use of the available reference materials and produced a very impressive replica of the Vickers Vimy Commercial.

You have done an excellent job of reproducing the interior and

I really like your homemade assembly jig.

Thanks for sharing it with us all.

Chris.

This is brilliant work.

It is beyond me how you have managed such a magnificent result.

The jig alone is remarkable,

Michael

WOW, each model you do is more impressive than the last, you seem to have a keen interest in Vickers aircraft, have you ever been to Brooklands museum in Weybridge home to Vickers aircraft, I know it is probably a bit of a distance especially living in Slovenia though

Beautiful, such a great model and all the more impressive considering the kit you started with!

I've seen this kit built before but I'm not aware that anyone has noticed the fuselage was too short.

It makes my day when I open up Britmodeller in the evening to find models of this standard.  Breathtaking!

Yeegods and all the little blue fishes,,,,, that's stunning. I got so far through the pics and then went back to check the scale and then was flabbergasted all over again.

Man, that's just a superb demonstration of modelling skills. If it doesn't win prizes everywhere there is no justice in this world.

Regards

Pete
