Revelling in building my Dornier DO 217K-1

Recommended Posts

Bought ages ago for next to nothing, as it had been very slightly started but also as bits were loose the seller didn't want to check them.

And yes you guessed it, I haven't checked either, so it's going to be a nice / unpleasant surprise depending on what's in the box !

Good luck everyone

Glad to see you here Pat! That's gotta be one of Revell's better boxarts, by the way 👍

I couldn't let you down mate :like:

All the best, I built the Italeri boxing many years ago and remember it was a pleasant build. Only the cockpit is quite empty which is very obvious due to the extensive glazing.

Hi Pat,

If you do have any bits missing I have about 90% of an Italeri one floating about - I only used the undercarriage and maybe the turret and cockpit floor.

So a check tonight has shown most of the parts still seem to be with it !

The pilot appears to have been painted with creosote  !

All the bits you can't see are loose in the box.

Looks a nice kit, so looking forward to starting it.

Hi Pat,

I found that the props fall off the sprue and I seem to have only 3 between 2 kits at the moment - don't know what the Revell box is like but the Italeri one has opening ends so bit can easily fall out!

Thanks Pete

I've put all the parts in a bag and taped it shut and yes both props are loose in the bag !

Looks a really nice kit, I'll have to dust off the RLM paint chart.

Cheers Pat

Despite the more recent Humbrol RLM-specific colours in the 2XX series, the best Humbrol-RLM chart is in my opinion still this one by @FalkeEins. Thanks Neil!

Hi Pat,

if I understand you correctly, now that all the parts are in the bag, you just plan to shake it well ?

Do not forget a table spoon of glue first!

I just can't wait!
