Since I'm not a diehard fans of AFV / military stuffs, I just enjoy the mechanical aesthetic & camouflage of it, accuracy of the model kit is less important for me. So, if you have interesting story, history, hint / tip for any of them, please share your experience / builds with me, maybe, just maybe, I would shift the schedule and paint that one first. Also, i have a question. Which brand of 1/72 do you like? For those I have assembled, I prefer (Dec-2022 ver.) Group 1, which are good QC, some may expensive: Zvezda > FlyHawk > Takom = Vespid ; Group 2, which are standard QC, low price, wide range of choices: Trumpeter = HobbyBoss > Meng > Transform Color > S-Model ; Group 3, which are good QC but little choices: Orange Hobby > Airfix > Academy ; Group 4, which are low QC: Revell > Riich > Aoshima = Fujimi > Red Dragon > IBG > Master Box > Hasegawa > Italeri > T-model . The rest of "monsters, i.e. trailer series" are locked firmly under my bed, can't get out. Although it is in scale of 1/150, it still have 320mm long. if I let it out, even set in launch mode, it will used up lots of space of my bookshelf, which space for displaying completed builds is a huge problem for typical modeller(s) who live in HK, much bigger than how to get model kit from overseas. [ the price for a sq. feet of floor area in residential is already above HK$20,000 (~US$2,550) ]. So i haven't plan to put it on schedule yet. Have you see any completed Soyuz before? Seahawk
Welcome to the forum! Ah, good: some AFVs in a sensible scale for a change! A very nice collection. Maybe I should learn from you and just build my models rather than just looking at the parts in the box! In Europe some ranges are more difficult to get hold of. My current pecking order is Vespid > Dragon > Revell (most of the time) > Italeri good ones > Airfix > Italeri less good ones. I haven't bought any Takom yet. I don't normally buy Trumpeter because they are often inaccurate. Hasegawa are beautifully moulded but a bit simplified and sometime inaccurate by modern standards. 1
Yg Models
hi Seahawk good see other modeller interested in 1/72 and/or willing to chat. most of modellers in HK just know bandai, gunpla, only elderly still assemble military kits, but they don't use computer. yes, you should (at least) build your kits. purpose of model kit is for assemble / play, not some forgotten items in store room; re-sell to earn money ( which very popular in asia... ). you already paid for it, unless you planned to re-sell them in the future, it is suitable to build it rather leave in attic, since you can't build all the model kits you bought, unless you are build one - buy one guy. those boxes are just rubbish when you getting old / pass away. therefore, it is a better to "enjoy / build" model kits even not paint it. opposite to your situation, Italeri and Revell are less popular in my town. 1/35 is fine, has new products regularly, but almost no new products for 1/72 series. they are in bottom of my pecking order is because i only built two Revell (one is great, one just so so); one Italeri (bad quality). it is sad that Takom's official website only show useless boxart, its plastic, quality, price, etc, all are similar to Vespid. would higher than Vespid just because it has more products at this moment. (Vespid just has four AFVs, not count the variations). about Japanese brand, Aoshima only publishes the military of Japan; 1/72 from Hasegawa seems ended, no new product (?). about mainland china, Trumpeter, HobbyBoss seems came from same company (?), their price are reasonable, QC are above average, already have wide range of AFV, etc. But not always provide clear parts as glass / window... on the other hand, Red Dragon's plastic & QC is similar or even lower than ltaleri, but the price is higher. I just bought a kit by Red Dragon that the "rubber" track in the box is broken into pieces, I go back to shop to exchange good one, but 4 of 5 boxes are same situation. I find Revell varies greatly. (Compare their Tiger Is and their Panzer IIIs.) IBG and Zvezda seem to have good detail even if I'm not up to checking detail accuracy they look good if built and painted well. @Seahawk and @Yg Models and all you other 1/72 builders, keep up the good work!
sardaukar
There are a few of us 1/72 modellers in here, for me it is a space issue I want a large collection but I wouldn't have the room to do it all in 1/35. I'll just reserve 1/35 for the odd favourite subject. model collect are a Chinese brand that seem to focus on cold war/modern Soviet/russian armour and 'what if' German designs, if you are interested in either of these give them a try. I'll try any manufacturers and tend to go for subjects that interest me rather than the kit brand. I would like to see more Chinese subjects by the Chinese brands. China has some very interesting AFV and I've only really seen a few in 1/72 from dragon, trumpeter and transform colours, s-model do a few too.

Yg Models
hi echo yes, latest model kit by Revell is quite good, but not easy to find them in my town. I just painted Revell's T-55AM, which is good QC & details also, i just setup Red Dragon 's Tiger-I -w zimmerit, the details is quite good in this scale. take a looks and compare with yours Revell one. Furthermore, after let Tiger-I out, i finally know Sturmtiger share the same body of Tiger-I. It is much easy to find out / understand this when putting two AFVs in front of you. btw, five more AFVs have break the seal. So i take a picture of them, and put it on top of this post. I have see some old IBG in town, but never see Zvezda in here. Edited May 13, 2022 by Yg Models
