HMS Sheffield (Cyberhobby, 1:700)

Recommended Posts

Today marks 40th anniversary since the Exocet hit HMS Sheffield at Falklands, with damage severe enough that lead to eventual sinking of the ship. This is my little tribute to those tragic events and the lost sailors, drama I was following as kid on evening TV news.

Very good. Anybody caught the Telegraph article this morning, saying the French would not give us access to the "Kill Code" on Exocet, even though we were pretty sure there was one and asked them. Might have saved a nasty accident, but, then again, the surveillance radar was switched off so somebody could phone home!!

Really nice build.  Watched the real one being built long it's Argentinian sister ships.  Of interest a section of Sheffield's hull was replaced with one from the ARA Hercules during construction whilst she was still on the stocks.

Always good to remember that, since when we are building military models there is a real-life back story that needs to be remembered.  Lest we forget and thank you!
