DeepSea
Hi all, Was looking over this just now (http://www.aeroflight.co.uk/pics/gulfwar/gwtornados2.htm) and was wondering why some mission markings are in red and some are black (on the same aircraft). Presumably it signifies something - but what?! Thanks in advance for any info the hive brain has D
Dr. Quack
If I recall correctly*, the black and red symbols differentiated between attacks laser designated by accompanying Buccaneers, and self designated attacks. Buccaneers also sported black and red bomb symbols. I'm sure a grown-up will be along soon to keep us right. Q *rare event, and getting rarer.....
Jabba
I know on the Buccaneers that the Red marked bomb symbols were for ones that had been dropped and been self designated, whilst the Black ones were designated by another Buccaneer. I think that this is the same on Tornados, but will find out and let you know later.
Jabba
I have just had a look in one of my books and I am correct for the Buccaneers. Now for Tornados it is different in that the red mission mark is for the 10th mission flown. Hope that this is of some help.
