nimrod54
Last year my good buddy @Hockeyboy76 sent me this kit so that I could try to keep the 'fl-egg flying' for some eggy nonsense. Around lunchtime today I decided to open the eggbox and crack on, first up though the box contents shots. by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr There are a few raised panel lines on the wings, fin and elevators, I decided to rescribe those and sand the raised detail off. After that I glued the fuselage halves together, then cleaned up the join before adding the wings. This is how things stood a few hours later. by John L, on Flickr An hour or so later I had tidied up the wing joins, added the tailplanes and neatened up those joins, then glued the main undercarriage legs in place. by John L, on Flickr The plan was to get some primer on the model and remaining parts after our evening meal, but rain has moved in to spoil the party for today so I have decide to call it a day. We will be at a birthday party for our great-nephew tomorrow but if the weather is favourable I hope to get some primer on at some point. by John L, on Flickr Cheers for now. AdrianMF
They don’t seem to have caught the box top fuselage fabric-and-stringer effect too well… I suppose I’ll have to mark the kit down as having “accuracy issues”… Nce work!

nimrod54
I spent around an hour this morning priming things up using Halfords specialist Plastic Egg Primer. by John L, on Flickr The engine has had some of Citadel's Ironhands Steel brushed on and the black area on the cowling was masked before priming it white in readiness for some yellow. by John L, on Flickr And the prop needs a bit more work to tidy it up before I start painting that up. by John L, on Flickr We will be off to the party shortly, but I should be able to get some more work done later. nimrod54
Got back around 5:30'ish and after feeding Molly I made a start on masking up the areas that have to be painted a green colour. by John L, on Flickr Then added a couple of the undercarriage doors to the wings... by John L, on Flickr before heading outside to spray some Bare Metal Silver on a few bits. by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr Once I have posted this I am going to give it a second coat. nimrod54
With Mrs N heading out on a shopping trip I was left to my own devices this morning and made a start on the final stages for this build. I unmasked the cockpit area and here is how things stood before starting. by John L, on Flickr This photo shows the area that I intend to paint interior green along with the cockpit tub. by John L, on Flickr And having stopped for some lunch a short while ago, here is how things stood when I stopped. The interior green was painted on the cockpit area and I added a head cushionwhich I punched out of some plastic card, the engine was glued in place along with the undercarriage doors. The propellor was painted matt black and I have brushed on a first layer of white as a base for the yellow that is to follow. The cowling has had two coats of Citadel's Flash Gitz Yellow brushed on and the wheel hubs received some Revell Aluminium. by John L, on Flickr With the lunch break over it is time to get back to the fun. I reckon that with the time expended on this build over the previous two days I had about 12hrs of build time remaining, with the amount of work left I should be able make the deadline. nimrod54
Thanks for your comments chaps. I wrapped this one up around 55 minutes ago which was inside my self imposed 12 hour deadline for today. Here is the end result and I have posted more photos in the galllery. by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr by John L, on Flickr As you can see, I had some trouble trying to get the D-Day stripe decals to settle down and they don't meet correctly on the underside, but I'll try and sort that out at a later date. Finally a big thankyou again to @Hockeyboy76 for sending me this kit, it was a lot of fun for my first Eggplane build - the only personal frustration for me was not getting the decal stripes on properly. Should anyone be looking for a bit of light relief from their usual builds then I suggest you have a crack at one of these. Thanks to everyone for the comments along the way. Cheers. The jury is still out for me when using pink under yellow, I tried it on one of the Hornet builds recently and found that it warmed the yellow up a bit too much. It is great under red though. 16 hours ago, Dansk said: brilliant. looks like you spent weeks on it. Cheers Paul, it was a bit tight towards the end, but I made it - just! 11 hours ago, Hewy said: You got a really nice finish on the silver john, smashing result Thanks buddy. Just Tamiya's Bare Metal Silver striaght from a rattle can. 7 hours ago, Hockeyboy76 said: Thats a cracker dude. Great Blitzbuild Cheers H. I thought that I was going to have to raid the fridge when I dropped it at one point but luckily plastic bounces - well at least on this occasion, it must have been a spring-chicken's egg. 🤣 1
