Adam Poultney
Finished just in time for the beginning of the Black Buck 40th anniversary. On 30 April 1982, XM607 was the first RAF Vulcan to successfully strike the Falkand Islands, damaging the runway at Port Stanley with a single 1000lb bomb from its payload of 21. My model represents XM597 as she would have appeared on the night of Black Buck 6, although that didn't take place until 3 June. Black Buck 6 targeted Argentine radar installations on the Falkands using US supplied AGM-45 Shrike Missiles and on the return journey, XM597 had to divert to Brazil due to a broken refuelling probe. Today you can see XM597 at the National Museum of Flight in Scotland, and although I have not been myself I hope I will have the opportunity when I go gliding Scotland in June. The kit is the Cyberhobby 1/200 scale Vulcan B2, rivet counted to my usual standard, although there are a couple of small things I realised I missed...... I'm sure no one else will ever notice! It was built for the Falkands War 40th Anniversary group build. @CliffB's model of XM598 based on the same kit isn't far behind in the same group build. I'm running out of creative titles for my Vulcan RFIs now.... If they're getting bad at a build in the 20s (I need to count them again!), imagine the titles when I get to the hundred and something-th builds. 20 something Vulcans down, 110ish to go £1 coin for scale If you want to read the build thread, you can do so here: And would it really be one of my RFI threads without a comparison of a few Vulcans? Same kit, built just over two years apart. The one on the left, painted as XM607, was one of my first two 1/200 scale Vulcans and was built just before Covid hit in 2020. I think that's quite an improvement in two years. And next to a Vulcan B1a, converted from the same kit And next to a more recent Vulcan B2 from almost a year ago Edited April 30, 2022 by Adam Poultney
billn53
Very nice job on your latest Vulcan. But Wow! Where do you keep them all? Do you maybe stack them atop one another?
Viking
Very nice Vulcan, Adam so neatly done it looks like a much larger scale. The camouflage is really nicely done. (Keep up this rate of Vulcan production and we'll have to start calling you Mr Spock!). Cheers John
Vultures1
Great Vulcan(s)! I learned a lot from your WIP thread ... and the disruptive 'squiggles' on the Shrikes is a nice touch. No easy thing in 1/200 scale!

Standard Vulcan camouflage used Medium Sea Grey on the grey bands of the top surface camouflage, but wrap around camouflage schemes introduced in September 1979 and applied to a total of 14 Vulcans- not including XH558 which was painted to a different standard- used Dark Sea Grey. Incidentally Dark Sea Grey was the colour used on the underside of the Black Buck Vulcans.

Pete in Lincs
Lovely Vulcans. Keep them coming, gliding is no substitute! I passed Waddington today. Vulcan 607 was parked outside in a pale grey scheme. It may just be primer.
