We set up the certificate to auto-renew, so that's clearly not happened :dull:

Looks like I've got some support chat in my future today :(

  • Mike changed the title to SSL Certificate Warning - Problem connecting

I've merged both threads, as they're one & the same issue.  Also changed the topic title to reflect the non-Safari specific nature :)

Hi, this morning Google Chrome and Safari have started having hissy fits when trying to use Britmodeller, the message is:

First message is:

Your connection is not private

Attackers might be trying to steal your information from www.britmodeller.com (for example, passwords, messages or credit cards). Learn more

NET::ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID

Second:

This server could not prove that it is www.britmodeller.com; its security certificate expired in the last day. This may be caused by a misconfiguration or an attacker intercepting your connection. Your computer's clock is currently set to Wednesday, 27 April 2022. Does that look right? If not, you should correct your system's clock and then refresh this page.

It is possible to access pages by. overriding the warnings, but this is a pain.

Could the Mods look into this, please?

I've paid up, and am just waiting for the cert details before I can install it.  You might have already had the message go away though, as a temporary measure was applied by Support. :)

In the mean time, maybe some modelling would be in order ;)

I've merged another thread into this one.

Also unwise - the warnings are there for a reason, and forums are always popular targets for hackers. Yes, it may have just been an expired certificate but it could have been something else. If a site suddenly starts showing warnings, better wait until the problem is sorted

It isn't completely sorted as Chrome still says " NOT SECURE" in the address line but the site is functioning as of 13:50 BST.

Most likely because you bypassed the Chrome security. Call the site up from fresh making sure you use the https address (not http).

Cheers

But of course it is, people in here think

About all sorts of things

Who's been doing that without permission? :fight:

We're just waiting for the certificate to be issue now, presumably while my payment makes its way through the banking system to wherever those things are based

Shouldn't be too long if I remember rightly. :hmmm:

Can't believe any hosting company it still charging for SSL certs since Let's Encrypt issues them for free and renews automatically. There are few specific situations where they can't easily be used, eg you service is load balanced across multiple instances. IF you have shell and root access your server you can install it yourself.

I was getting something stating the clock  time was wrong ????????????

I think you'll find that error said your clock time might be wrong, which because certificates are date/time stamped could cause the error message to appear even if the cert is valid.

Cheers
