Chilean AF A-37B camo

I just started on the Trumpeter 1/48 A-37B Dragonfly, and after seeing a photo on the internet of a Chilean AF A-37B in a Tan/Brown/Green camo scheme, thought I would love to paint mine in that scheme.

Here is the photo I found: https://www.airhistory.net/photo/289815/J-629

Does anybody have more info on this scheme, especially what the paint colors would be?

Hello,

I'd say it looks a lot like an Asia Minor scheme: tan special FS 20400, brown special FS 30140, green FS 34079 and grey FS 36622. As applied to iranian F-5, F-4 and F-14 (as delivered).

Hello, I have build the A-37 some time ago. As usual, I mixed the colours from Tamiya Acrilics, in this case it were some remnants from another colours, therefore I don´t know exact formulas. But as a reference , there was the Aztec decal sheet which says:

Aproximate colurs:

FS33727 + 10% White = TAN

FS 33070 = Olive

FS 30145 = Medium Brown

FS 35630 = undersurface

Perhaps these colours, from Chilean company K4, may be of use:

Otherwise, if you can't get the Aztec decal sheet guide, the Armycast decal sheet recommends 20140 (red brown), 30400 (sand) and 34079 (dark green) over 36375 (light ghost gray). I'm not sure how accurate this is - my money would probably be on the K4 recommendation...

  • 3 months later...

Otherwise, d'you think the colours used on the Hunter in the middle of the bottom row (below - if your eyes can make 'em out...) might be better?
