Citroen Traction Avant in US MP service

Recommended Posts

Hi All. Here my new project: lovely 1/35 Tamiya kit no  35301 Traction Avant

AD5c6gi.jpg

I'd like to represent a Traction Avant adopted by US MP after WH service.

The reference is this well know pic:

I want to improve the kit with Aber photo-etched kit no 35231 and plasticard stripes and bolts.

I began to improve the inner doors (front and rear) as the kit details are generic and wrong

Hi, Here some little wips.

I found out two problems:

- there is a space between rear fenders and chassis;

- rear seat is too short.

I solved the space adding some plastic card.

The short seat was solved cutting it in two pieces, positioning on the black lines and calculate the mm (+/- 0.6 cm) to fill the empty space with with a strong plasticard.

Then a few details on top and to frontal radiator grille (Aber grille is very delicate but too nice)

Hope you like.

Thank you Vytautas!

Bertie, you’re right! I love Tamiya kits but sometimes the engineering approach is to simple.

A nice detailing!

When you make such doors, you lose the right to leave them closed... 😉

I fully agree. Wonderful detailing on the doors 👍

Thank you for your post and the good tips!
I also have this model on my shelf and the version in US service (very cool picture) is my absolute favourite 👍
I'll stay tuned!

Must have missed this one, nice progress so far.....an interesting build to follow indeed. I've always loved this Citroen and would love to have real one......I nicknamed it the "Gestapo Citroen". There's an Historian on TV, James Holland; that has one and he drives in some of his documentaries when he visits veterans to interview them.

Nice work....

Thank you Stuart and Simon!

TA is one on my favourite 30’ car. I love Mercedes 170 from Miniart but the building is time consuming as the engineering work is, imho, not so good ad Tamiya ones

With these small and precise details, you are really taking a big risk!
You have already lost the right to close the door. If you continue like this, you will lose the right to close the top! :D
