A little about the helicopter. This anti-submarine helicopter was designed to search for and destroy enemy submarines. In 1970, the US Navy began developing a helicopter for this purpose under the Lamps program (LAMPS - Light Airborne Multi-Purpose System - light ship-to-aircraft multi-purpose system). Initially, it was planned to develop a helicopter under the SASI (Ship and Systems Integration) program with a take-off weight of up to 3000 kg with radio-acoustic buoys, OGAS, a magnetometer, two Mk.46 torpedoes and other means. The takeoff weight limit was a consequence of the low strength of the landing pads. The development of a new helicopter would take a lot of time, and in order to speed up this process, they decided to divide the program into three stages: Mk.l, Mk.II and Mk.III, and use the SH-2D as the helicopter of the first stage (modification of the HH-2D helicopter "Sea Sprite" company Kaman) with a simplified composition of the equipment. But even in this case, its weight reached 5540 kg, which ensured the use only from ships with large and durable landing sites. 20 helicopters were modified, which later replaced the more advanced SH-2F "Sea Sprite" and SH-2G. Now about the model. To be honest, I did not like it because of the large number of mistakes. Which needed to be eliminated. My changes - completely remade cockpit and operator-observer position - modified main and tail rotor - modified landing gear - remade side mirrors (used wire) - rebuilt fire extinguisher - remade torpedo Mk46 - lowering hydroacoustic station and many others Painting - AKAN enamel paints Washing - MIG dark wash Varnishes - FUTURE, matt TAMIYA (XF-86) and TAMIYA color varnishes Decals - inside the box Presented SH-2F "Seaprite" from the US Navy HSL-31 squadron (tail number 1309) Happy viewing! 65 1 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
