IJN Heavy Cruiser ATAGO 1/350 by Aoshima

Recommended Posts

This is my first Aoshima model and I have to say some of the detail was very good, but some of the part to part fit left a bit to be desired. As did the instructions, I got the impression that the English translation was the barest minimum, whereas the Japanese, probably, went into more detail.

Anyway, an interesting ship.

Beautiful job Jon, really impressive result. Even more so considering the short time it took, great to see it built 👍

Thanks Alan. I was quite surprised how quickly it went together, it wasn’t an overly complicated kit, the extra PE did improve it no end. It must be the first ship I’ve built which only as three colours. The only real drawback was the instructions, bit vague at times.

By the by ‘Voyager’ is excellent, real page turner.

Love the rigging!

Thanks.

It should be more.

But it’s not my strong point, so I add the most I’m comfortable with. To not add any makes ships look a bit odd, bit like not adding deck railings, a pain to instal but make such a difference.

Having built the Takao, I hear you with the vague instructions. Turned out nice though, great work
