ICM Spitfire XVI in 1/48th Scale.

Recommended Posts

G'day Chums, for your delectation may I present my take on the ICM Spitfire XVI.

This was originally built back in 2011.

The varnish had gone yellow over time so I decided to strip it all off and re-do it.Whilst I was at it I replaced the cannon bay cover teardrop fairings with larger ones, added the kit supplied bomb racks and bombs, made up a QL harness for the re-worked seat, added some plumbing in the cockpit, replaced the cockpit door with a spare from somewhere to which I added a scratchbuilt release handle and crowbar, replaced the exhaust stubs with spares from the Eduard XVI and added copper wire antennae to the spine and starboard wing underside.

The paint was hairy sticked Humbrol (now I'm getting the hang of the stuff they're going to change it again) and the decals were Xtradecal.

I'd say that you've got it spot on.

You've done a great job with the restoration of your Spitfire XVI, my favourite mark of all the Spitfires.

I've always thought that the ICM kits are great value for the money.

Well done 👍

Chris.
