Terry1954
Just finished catching up on a wonderful thread Johnny, as you might tell by the likes etc! The Moths are looking awesome, superb modelling, as always seems the case on your threads. Also, well done on your part in the 453rd museum builds. Looks like it was an enjoyable meet! Tagging along now, extremely fashionably late! Terry 1

The Spadgent
Good evening. I eventually made it to the bench. Not for long as it was boiling but something got done. 😇 A top coat has been applied to and camo and pretty much most of the structure is now together. I did have a little trouble with slight silvering on the decals (not a word G ) 😉 but that vanished with the final coat. The wheels got hand painted and are now ready for some weathering. Also got the canopies masked. Not a huge task to be fair. 😉 As for Mr Custard the struts and doors got knocked back and made ready for glue. And I set about sticking everything together. Much in the same way as before. The wheels also got painted with a hairy stick. That was about it as it was just too hot. As soon as they’re on their wheels I can start rigging. 🤗 Glad to be back at it. More soon. Johnny.

The Spadgent
Afternoon. Thought I’d do a cheeky afternoon update. 🤗 Firstly a test of strength. Those inner struts are soo well thought out. Bravo Airfix. 👏👏 A few spots of glue the outer struts and tape. This time not close to decal land. A few hours later in this heat it had cured. Such a lovely looking thing I couldn’t resist a glamour shot. 🍑 The wheels for both have now been weathered and sealed. Let the madness begin! 🧵🪢 Thanks for popping in. most of the family are away this weekend so you never know what might happen. 🤩 Take care and as always. Happy modelling. Nickthebrief
Good luck with the rigging Johnny! The crossed wires immediately in front of the forward windscreen are particularly good fun... galgos
Nick’s point about the rigging wires forward of the windscreen is very valid, the absolute devil to fit with any degree of accuracy. For what it’s worth I always use short pieces of stretched sprue carefully positioned.

The Spadgent
Good evening. Some time was managed this afternoon at the bench. Things were glued, things were painted and some boxes got tidied away. Not long now. 😍 First up the wheels got glued onto the uc frame. (Custard) And the rear rigging got added via the gift of EZ line and the Spadgent patent blu tac method. (Tm) Seems to be going ok. I’m beginning to not enjoy having to do two of everything. I think my next build with be singular in the fingular. 🥸 The camo Moth got one batch of the rear strings added. And after drying the SPBTM was employed. This is the tricky section I was warned about. The front bit looks easier than the back bit but to be fair they both look like a right pain. Oh well in for a Penny. Before I do the rear ones I need to add the screens. So the last of the bits assume bobs need painting. I decided to try a new way of painting the tips of things. I’ll use the masking fluid I bought for Dewey. Wait for that to dry and hit it with black. Rub it off and ping!! Brilliant. I’m going to be using this more often. 🤓 The props got painted with a few different shades of brown (free hand ) to give a nice base wood look. Then I added some details with this after a gloss coat. Subtle but I like it. What do you mean where? 🤪 Screens and pads got painted for Custard. And camo. Those are now Flory covered and awaiting some love. First attempt at the nose/cockpit rig. Not in exactly the right place but I need to get an anchor point and this was my closest position. I’m relatively happy with that. If I can get the rear done to the rest should be plane sailing. For the final trick of the night. Mrs Custard is on her wheels. 🤩🤩🤩 hope you’re all still enjoying the build. Too too much further to go now. Take care and as always. Happy modelling. And I concur about multi-builds, I am taking a sabbatical from them when my poly-Hawkers build is done. Is that like the spinner bit? If it is then yes it’s that. The bit that holds the doing thing onto the front bit. (All very technical) 😆 11 hours ago, giemme said: Top job on the rigging, Johnny And the propeller is just ace, mate! Ciao Thanks G. perdu
I do use the "bored with this for a minute, where's another one?" technique but frankly I ought to grow up and concentrate. One at a time in future. For now. 🤣 1
