MicroGaz
Hi all, as the title says, I have completed a model recently but the end result looks disappointingly different from the reference photos I used, it looks too light. I wonder if there is any way to slightly tone down the paint, even though the model is completed.. The decals are already on, which will obviously complicate matters slightly, but I'm willing to try anything! I thought of lightly over spraying with Tamiya Smoke, or a very thinned and lightened coat of black?? Anyone else had this problem? BTW, the colour is Tamiya XF23 light blue. Thanks in advance! colin
You could try a enamel filter over it, could be removed/adjusted to suit if you have sealed the paint/decals with a acrylic clear
bootneck
Try applying Klear/Pledge or gloss varnish over a test area, as gloss varnish tends to darken any painted area. Not by much but it might be enough, if it works then varnish the remaining area. Mike

Filters will darken it, you've just got to choose the correct one that won't change the hue, just the darkness.
