neil5208
Something a bit different for me, Revell's Millennium Falcon in 1/241 scale, I did try to get the 1/72 one but kept losing out on ebay and I glad because I hadn't taken the size into account. I plan to make this into the Falcon as it leave the Death Star vent after destroying the power generator as in Return of the Jedi. I have fitted the small parts less the cockpit glass and spray with light grey, I'm not using the supplied stickers and have sprayed the underside grey panels. It looks a bit stark atm but will be weathered back.
neil5208
For such a small model I have used rather a lot of masking tape so far. And after removal. I have another shade of grey to go on and then I can join the two halves. I have an idea how to create the exhaust vent structure using 1/4" evergreen tube.
neil5208
Last masking session done thankfully, not quite as the sticker should have been but still looks good. U Used some 1/4" evergreen tube to make a pipe section, after looking at RotJ's final battle scene a few time the vent is made up of a ring of pipes going into the Death Star in groups of 3. Made this one up to get a feel for the size needed. Looks about right, I've also got an old LED light chain to light up the explosion.
neil5208
A quick coat of gloss clear and a Flory Dark Dirt wash and I ended up with this. I need to paint the cockpit glass so I can permanently join the Falcon together.
neil5208
Painted the cockpit flat black and the engine clear part white and light blue. Also fitted the glazing under the guns. Also sprayed the exhaust staining on the upper side. The cockpit glass will need another layer or two before its ready for final fittng.
Ngantek
Looking really nice! The kit really loved that wash! Lots of greebly detail. I have this one in my stash so am looking forward to having a go as well.
neil5208
Finally fitted the cockpit glass last night and gave it a coat of Flory dark dirt this morning, also picked up a small battery powered LED light chain from a garden centre which hopefully be bright enough for the explosion effect.
neil5208
A coat of flat clear has dulled down the paint nicely, now I just have to build the base and explosion. My order of Evergreen plastic arrived yesterday so I can start on the vent detail.
neil5208
A bit of delay with this one, been working on the P61 and a F102 Delta Dagger but I made up some of the pipe edge for the vent. Some trimming to length needed and I'll make up some more sets as 7 is not enough I think.
Pete in Lincs
Nice work. Your Falcon turned out nicer than mine! Looking forward to more soon.
Ventsislav Gramatski
I've read that the small Revell Falcon is actually a fairly good, accurate representation of (one of the) studio models. In any case, yours looks great! The DSII escape scene is an awesome moment, looking forward to seeing your diorama completed!
Uncle Monty
It's a beautiful piece of work so far. The diorama should look amazing when done. One for the display cabinet
