Graham Boak
Should we really be using this thread to discuss earlier kits in terms of varying degrees of awfulness? No, but I find your comments so opposite to my experiences that I can't resist. I still have a Heller/SMER Hurricane to be made: if not high on the likelihood list then it hasn't been slung. I might sell it. It takes little more than my usual modification to widen the front of the top cowling to end up with a neat looking Hurricane, Certainly not ideal, and I wouldn't buy another one, but it "looks like" a Hurricane..(And I hate that phrase...) If I had another old Airfix one I'd bin it. The work needed to correct the fuselage and find a new canopy, etc. is excessive. This is not a case of preferring a pricier kit to an inferior one - you can get better Hurricane kits at the same price someone would charge you one of these disappointments. If by any ill chance you did encounter a dirt-cheap one, ask yourself if you could get a pair of 40mm cannon for the price.
