Revell 1/72 Red Arrows Hawk

Recommended Posts

Hi fellow modellers,

This here is one of the last models my mother gifted me for Christmas. She sadly passed away on the 5th of this month after her battle with cancer.

The kit itself went together pretty well with a bit of filler needed here and there, the front portion of the canopy was misshapen on the port side so I tried to do the best I could by adding some filler to bulk it out a bit. I used a pilot from the spares box and the purchased the Master pitot from Hannants. Painting was done with Hataka red line and neodymium magnets were used to mount to the airfix base.

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, and as these are pretty clean aircraft I didnt do any weathering apart from the exhaust end but even that was minimal.

So anyway here it is...

That's a really tidy looking Hawk!

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother; you did a great job with this kit that she gave you!

Thanks Neil, im happy with it although I'm still trying to get used to those Hataka red line paints, I normally only use Tamiya acrylics.

That looks very nice indeed. Yes, Red Arrows aircraft are kept clean and pretty. Clever work with the stand, both paint and magnets. Glad to see a pilot at the controls in a wheels-up configuration.

Vale your Mum. Mine's close to leaving us, 92 years last Monday. She sent me a very nice Red Arrows card last Christmas.

A lasting memory of your mother. You made a great model from it. She would be very happy that her gift was so much appreciated!
