steve5
thanks for that beefy mate ,😀 while I am waiting for deadeyes and thread to arrive , thought I'd do the bowspit yard ,
steve5
couldn't believe it , found the right size syren thread behind my desk , just enough for the mizzen mast , so I have started the lanteen spar , everything is loose at the moment , I will post pic's of the sail when it is done .
beefy66
Looking good there Steve is there a secret sequence for building up the mast and rigging so as you do not get your self into a knot when adding the ropes. 🤔 Stay Safe beefy
steve5
generally it's the bottom part of the mast , burton pendants , shrouds , preventer stays , in that order , then just keep working your way up , i leave the rat lines till I've finished the inside running rigging and sails , if I do them ! so I can work between the shrouds more easily . hope this helps beefy , if you need more info just let me know .
ArnoldAmbrose
Gidday Steve, I've often wondered how the shrouds were attached to the mast at the top. That rigging is looking first class. Regards, Jeff.
steve5
silkspan attached to my sail making device , { patent pending } , here it has the paint , glue , and water mix applied , after it has dried cut to shape.. glue the rope edging in with pva glue and attach nothing is fixed in place yet , I have to wait for the main shrouds to go in . ArnoldAmbrose
Gidday Steve, that's very clever and very well done. I was wondering, what do you drink to relax after a hard day's sail making? 😁 Will you have reefing points in your main sails? Regards, Jeff.
steve5
thanks jeff , well a mans not a camel now , 😆 .at this stage I don't think I will be doing reefing points , as I will be doing mostly furled sails , or being drawn up sails . but I intend to still do all the clue , cringle and reefing lines .
steve5
I not really sure if the lanteen spar had parrels or not , but I thought that they looked cool .

steve5
simple would never be the right word S-boat55 , the main , and preventer stay is finally on , not too happy about this though , the front four shrouds have all come loose , sorry about the picture quality .

Bertie McBoatface
The sail looks good - appropriately thin. I've ordered some of that for my Beagle.
