1500+ Ponies = a P51 K MUSTANG Eduard 1/48 ProfiPack.

Recommended Posts

If you are a Mustang fan and plan to build more I would recommend ‘ Building the P-51 Mustang ‘ by Michael O’Leary, a really good reference, full of original photos ( B&W but good quality ) and useful information on all marks.

Cheers for the heads up on that John but I only have the one kit.

We moved 5 years ago from a flat that had a very large front room, with room to display the finished kits to somewhere half the size and hardly any room for display.

Wow, lots of parts fir the interiors,  Simon! Going to look good when done

Ciao

We will see Giorgio .

Thanks all for the likes and comments.

A little done this afternoon.

I did not like the way that the 2 panels I had to fit sat, a little to proud, so tape around them and filed and polished to this.

DSCN2688

Then time for some primer.

DSCN2689

Doesn`t look too bad.

And the rest of the bits.

DSCN2690

DSCN2691

DSCN2692

I cannot see me getting much more done, as it`s Mothers Day and I have to attend to the good lady Rose.

Stay safe.

Simon.

Thanks @AliGauld, @giemme, @elger, @Biggles87 and @Hamden.

Again sorry to report that not much being done but I am a full time carer for my wife and things can be heavy at times.

When I do get bench time the old grey cells are a bit frazzled a times.

Anyhow the flaps.

2 pieces.

DSCN2693

Nicely engraved.

Stuck together.

DSCN2694

A little bit of P.E.

DSCN2695

And fixed in place.

DSCN2699

The weather has not been kind for spraying so I can see a few more sub assemblies being made.

Stay safe.

Simon.

Hi Simon,

No need for any apologies when more important stuff needs doing.

Any progress is good progress.

Nice flaps by the way.

Stay safe,

Cheers,

Alistair

Well, I try to get things done but the weather can also intervene, like yesterday and today, wind in the wrong direction for spraying (We live in a 5th floor flat).

Lovely details there, Simon

Take my bests to the Good Lady Rose :)

Ciao

Have done sir and to yours.

Thanks @elger, @Hamdenand @mark.au.

Well, a little more done, due to the wind no spraying Damn.

Prop bits cleaned up.

DSCN2700

And together.

DSCN2702

Drop tanks done last night, need work on the seams.

DSCN2701

Finally the oil cooler bits were cleaned up.

DSCN2703

I was going to glue them together but it would cause a problem later painting.

Stay safe.

Simon.

Slow and steady wins the race, take your time.

The prop looks good but the tanks look very un-Eduard like in the fitting department, and if they represent the ‘ pressed paper ‘ type should be slightly corrugated. I think I might have a spare pair somewhere which you are welcome to if I can find them.

Prop and spinner bits look properly engineered. As for the drop tanks, I can't remember a single kit I built, no matter the producer, where they were trouble free. All part of the fun, I guess... :drunk:

Thanks for the offer John, but I will see what I can do with them

They were bashed around at times I suppose. LOL.

OK folks, evening update.

Main U/C bay, comes in many parts, here are the main four.

DSCN2704

Join three of them together and you get this.

DSCN2705

Add the other bit.

DSCN2706

There is a lot more bits to go in there but for the ease of painting etc I have left them out for now.

I am running out of bits to do until I get some spraying done.

Oh, yes, my wife went to the local charity shop and came back with eight model mags, two of which cover the Eduard P51 D VLR version that came out a while ago.

So I have some handy references for colour.

Stay safe.

Handy that and very nice of your good lady.

Now why can't I find useful stuff like that in my local ones.

Down to luck I suppose, once I have finished with them I will pass them on to my son Shane who has just started the hobby.

Well done Lady Rose, then!

Also, glad to see Eduard got the main wheel well right! 👍

Ciao

It was a bit fiddly but looks OK for now.

Thanks @Hamden and @Biggles87.

Well, good day to you all, and at last time for some spraying.

I am going to have a go at wooden effects on the cockpit floor as @giemme did. So laid down some Deck Tan XF 55.

DSCN2707

Then to interior Green, well the Vallejo stuff was ?&*$ so made my own up.

DSCN2708

DSCN2709

XF 3 and XF 67..

DSCN2710

Before some NATO Black XF 69 was given a splash of some of the back office stuff.

DSCN2711

Still a lot of spraying still to do but life!!!!

Stay safe.

Thanks @AliGauld and @Hamden, miracles happen, I got a bit more time at the bench.

I have managed to get these parts done.

DSCN2712

And inside.

DSCN2714

Lower wing got a blast too, both sides.

DSCN2715

U/C bay.

DSCN2716

And oil cooler ?

DSCN2717

With...

DSCN2718

As the insides will be a Matt silver I am not too worried about the finish so much.

Stay safe.

Simon.

Oooh just in time for paint. Looking really nice. Those wells look more detailed than my, well James’s 1/32 ones. Are you planning on adding the pipes or leaving as are? Either way they will be fantastic. 🤩

Right , life and the bloody weather get in the way yet again, sorry peeps.

Been to windy for spraying when I have had the chance that is.

So tonight I got a little bit more done,

Drop tanks were cleaned up then  a small hole drilled and a bit of plastic rod inserted as a holding point for painting.

DSCN2720

Next up, the silver runners?

DSCN2721

Then the "Black boxes+controls"

DSCN2722

Control column, already painted Interior Green was topped with Rubber Black and gaited with Olive Drab.

DSCN2724

And a blurry one of an adjustment wheel.

DSCN2725

Well, times go on and my camera needs its battery charging (Can I afford it ) Lol.

Stay safe.
