BTW what do you thin Aqua Gloss Varnish with, and what ratio?

If you mean Alclad Aqua Gloss, I spray it right away without any thinning. HTH.

Glad The lady Rose has been discharged. I had a real worry when I saw your post.

The silver ours looking splendid. Good luck with  that top coat.

 Johnny.

It was for me too Johnny, we are awaiting for some more tests before she goes under the knife.

Not bad that Alcad 2 stuff.

Thanks @Dr. Quack, @Hamden, @AliGauld, @giemme, And @Sturmovik.

So aqua gloss works over silver? Does it work with high gloss chrome? I’m looking for a gloss that I can use for super shiny metals.   Great progress by the way. 👌

 Johnny

We will see Johnny, the varnish is still slightly tacky so I am leaving alone for now. The next colour on will be Alcad2 Polished Aluminium.

Thanks @elger, @cobraleader, @Hamden and @Dr. Quack.

Well , as I said to @The Spadgent the varnish is still tacky so I am leaving the masking until late on, maybe tomorrow.

So I did a few little bits.

The rudder, still got a blob, damn.

DSCN3060

But not this side though.

DSCN3061

Landing flaps also got a second coat after being given a quick rub down.

DSCN3062

And the U/C legs got a dab of silver.

DSCN3064

Not happy about that but will wait to see when dry.

That`s about for now.

Stay safe.

I only tried it on the nose ring of my EE Lightning build, and it did kick the shine back a bit - alas, it was OK for the effect I was after.

That is my experience as well. Although it is designed for metallics it does knock back the lustre.

Good luck getting some at a decent price now though as Alclad in the UK became HR Hobbies who have now licenced AK to sell it exclusively.

A £3.00 bottle now costs £7.00 for 30 mls. :angrysoapbox.sml:

A very nice “Silver Machine” 🪙🐎

Thanks lads, "Silver Machine" it is then.

Thanks @elger, @Memphis, @Dr. Quack, @cobraleader and @Hamden.

After allowing her to dry for 36 hours (other things cropped up) I had a food look and found some roughness around the wing roots.

DSCN3085

DSCN3086

But when handling her I saw some finger prints on the underside.

DSCN3087

Not visible here but they are there.

So a quick rub down of the affected areas and spray over.

DSCN3088

DSCN3089

DSCN3090

I am now leaving alone again to cure.

Which means finding something else to do...

Stay safe.

Thank you lads, a bit annoyed with my self about the finger prints.

Thanks @elger, @Hamden, @Dr. Quack, @cobraleader, and @The Spadgent.

Well, masking was the first task of the day after doing my chores (What chores?) thanks a cold beer...

There is a different colour to the surrounds of the exhausts, masked ready.

DSCN3092

DSCN3093

Sorry a bit blurred.

And then I did the area for the I.D. stripes (No decals for that) (more on the decals later.

DSCN3095

Time for some spraying now.

You can never trust over spray Alistair LOL.

On with White XF 2.

DSCN3096

Then some Stainless Alcad 2 ALC 115.

DSCN3097

Second coat of white.

DSCN3098

DSCN3099

A bit blurred again, damn.

Let`s wait for that lot to dry before the fun of masking for the black.

Stay safe.

Thanks @AliGauld, @giemme, @elger and @Hamden.

OK, I removed some of the masking around the exhausts and found some paint creep.

DSCN3106

DSCN3108

I am not worried as there is bound to be more somewhere.

As I said earlier, those decals.

Printed by Fundekals, they seem to have quite an amount of carrier film plus quite fragile too.

This could be fun when I come to apply the rest of them

Anyhow a pic of the prop.

DSCN3104

They did not turn out to bad...

Well, the wind and rain turned up so I have put a halt to the spraying until tomorrow.

Also I want to let the white dry thoroughly be fore masking.

Stay safe.

Simon.
