Handsome looking work around that cockpit area Simon.: that masking looks particularly sharp!

It's definitely coming together now.

Agree about the masking very sharp indeed.

Cheers,

Alistair

Thanks lads, the kit comes with PCM`s so made life easier.

Thanks @Memphis, @Biggles87, and @corsaircorp.

Well, a bit of P.E on the underside .

Followed by the rear decking to the office.

DSCN2977

And painted.

Hi folks, and a very happy New Year to you all.

Thanks @giemme, @elger, @corsaircorp, @Hamden, @cobraleader and @AliGauld.

OK, time for an update.

Gunsight finished, as well as the IP + coaming, ready to fit.

DSCN2985

DSCN2984

Started to make some templates for the Main U/C bays.

DSCN2983

I will transfer them to card later.

A word of warning to anyone building this kit, make sure that this area is cleaned as it fits into the cockpit floor.

DSCN2982

I am sorry that this one is blurred but it shows the problem I have with fitting the wings.

DSCN2981

When sanding the fuselage nose area I removed to much plastic.

DSCN2980

Hence the lip, damn...

When squeezed together there is still the gap, but removing anymore plastic is a no no, as the wings abut the cockpit floor and won`t go any tighter.

Well, off for a cuppa now.

Stay safe.

Simon.

The IP is spectacular but that step is going to require a little work.

Although I have no doubt it will just be a little extra until you get it sorted.

Cheers,

Alistair

Sadly Alistair the amount of plastic I removed/ sanded away sorting the seam out has come back t haunt me but.. we will see.

Thanks @elger

Well, I took the plunge and glued the wings on.

DSCN2986

My camera died so phone pics for now. (Camera battery charging)

I left the inner trailing edge un glued after reading a write up on this kit, and does make for easier alignment.

Leave that to dry now, and see what filling needs to be done.

Stay safe.

Just now, AliGauld said:

The gap doesn't look that big. Some PPP if you have it wiped back with a damp cotton bud will fill that nicely and just look like a panel line.

Cheers,

Alistair

Hopefully LOL.

And to you and yours CC, and I have a STABLE stash (Stash attained beyond life expectancy)

Thanks @Bell209, @Hamden, @elger, @cobraleader and @AliGauld.

Well, left overnight then attacked with some wet and dry (Wet) this was the result.

DSCN2987

DSCN2988

Tail feathers assemble.

DSCN2989

And fitted.

DSCN2991

DSCN2990

DSCN2992

Leave those to set before maybe a swipe of filler?

And yes, my camera is fully charged now, so better pics hopefully.

Stay safe.

Thanks @AliGauld, @elger and @Hamden.

While waiting for the tail feathers to set I decided to attack the last bits of P.E., namely the underwing stores stays.

DSCN2993

Yep that`s a 5p coin .

The three circles had to be folded "Z" like.

DSCN2994

Before fitting to the pylons.

DSCN2995

DSCN2996

They still have to be bent upwards but will wait until they have set..

I still have the other two to build/fold.

Stay safe.

Oof, I hope the optivisor is good.

Looking good though.

Cheers,

Alistair

It is Alistair, though my eyes are still the same LOL.

Thankfully no more bending/forming but still a few fiddly bits to fit.

Quite the catch up I had, Simon! Excellent progress, despite of the fight

Ciao

What would model building be like if you did not have to battle something?

Thanks @AliGauld, @elger, @corsaircorp and @Hamden.

Well, time for a short up date.

Tail feathers blended in nicely, (I hope).

DSCN2997

DSCN2998

I.P. and coaming fitted.

DSCN2999

DSCN3000

And the Oil cooler "Scoop" added to.

DSCN3001

A bit of work there needless to say.

Just a couple of parts to fit I think before the dreaded masking and application of the "Lie Detector" (Primer).

Stay safe.

OK, this is where it gets to the fun part, masking...

But the last bit added for now, the windscreen.

First unmask the inners.

DSCN3002

The some TET to fix.

DSCN3003

DSCN3004

I see filler coming.

Finally, those drop tank stays all done apart from some bends.

DSCN3005

Stay safe.

  • 2 months later...

Hi folks, sorry for the delay but a major loss of mojo and life got in the way but today I finally got to get on the bench.

Some priming done.

Yes, a lot of roughness in areas, the airbrush was playing up a bit but there seems to be a lot of remedial work to do as well.

Stay safe.
