Yep, I agree, this is looking very good indeed! I still love the scheme you have chosen, the Alu and red show it off nicely!

Main decals now on. Must say, despite their age, they all went on really well.

For the serial number and aircraft code letter, I have ordered a set of Techmod USAAF serial decals. Only problem is, I'm not sure it will arrive in time. Fingers crossed!!

Phew! Decals arrived this morning, all the way from Poland! Normally, it would have been a case of waiting until this evening before carrying on, but I'm off this week, so I decided to crack on straight away. My daughter has been really keen to watch me do modelling, as usually I wait until she is in bed, so under the beady eye of a 6 year old, I got stuck in! One point to make, although the Techmod decals are really good quality, they are really skimpy with the amount you get. There were 2 sheets in the pack, but in the size I needed, only one "2" per size, which meant I only had two "2"s whereas I needed four. So, it was off to root through my spares box. Thought the unused decals from my Academy P-51D would be OK, but they are actually a bit larger than the Techmod numbers. Luckily, a sheet of decals I found on the floor at a model show over 20 years ago, finally came good. They are actually from a Hasegawa HH-60.

Here are the Techmod sheets;

These are what I need. The Academy decals are in the bottom row, just above the Hasegawa ones;

One side done;

And the other;

Final few bits added (propeller and 2 aerials), a couple of small touch ups, and its done!

And finally, following my sad news at the end of April about our dog, may I present our new arrival Bertie, who arrived on Saturday;

Hi Dan,

just caught up with this after our chat on your P-47 thread.

Such a great build - the Norseman was one Matchbox kit I always passed over as a youngster as it lacked the "dash" of a fighter.

Having found an interest in second line aircraft, however, I can really see one of these in my collection. The subject you chose is a good one, and your rendition of it is absolutely excellent!

Very belated congrats on the arrival of Bertie, too!

Cheers,

Mark

Thanks, it's a nice kit, and due to needing another kit to get the missing cabin floor piece, I do have another in the stash! As I said in the original thread, this had been a project I'd wanted to do ever since getting that Hacks book. Was pleased with the result, and the Norseman is now sat amongst my various diecast Eighth Air Force models.

Bertie on the other hand, is currently curled up on the bed!
