Up in the loft...an F16 (and a bonus)

I knew that up in the loft I had a 1/32 scale General Dynamics F-16A kit from waaaaaay back (circa 1977/8). Today I reckoned it was time to retrieve it.

Seems I'd made some decent progress with the cockpit...

(I doubt the colours of chosen for the various button and dials in anyway matches reality!)

...and the pilot, complete with dodgy porn-star 'tache!

You might have noticed, the poor fellow is missing his left arm. 🙁

Also missing: the decals sheet and the instructions! Bit of a downer, though I believe I found a PDF of the instructions in another BM thread.

So what's the bonus? A forgotten model kit of a sailing ship 'The Flying Cloud' by Heller, sitting on top of the F16 box. More of that in the Maritime forum...

This cries out for a " R. Jeremy" on the cockpit rail!

There's always Scalemates - I believe this is basically the same kit:

Odd you have dusted off and brought out the box. I have 3 of these kits remaining and have built 4. I bought the first 2 kits from the Mildenhall Model club event in 1978 when I was assigned to RAF Lakenheath. One I made and gave it to the owners of R & N models shop in Thetford before I returned to the US. Two of the kits I had plans for the full scale development airframes flown out of Edwards AFB back in the day.

That being said I'll grab a seat and watch this develop and ponder what to do with mine.

So, where do you guys go to get your replacement decals sheets?

You may want to check Scalemates or on-line reviews for this particular kit.  It maybe of one of the prototypes or the full scale development birds and there are significant differences between the prototypes and the FDS and early production A models.  The box top has 75-0745 which was a FSD aircraft.  Also you can look through the on-line hobby shops for available F-16A decal sheets in 32nd scale.  Also remember that if it is an FSD or early production A that the horizontal stab is much smaller than the later As.

I saw this kit , sprues, etc... and it has the Stencel III ejection seat,  so this kit is an FSD .

Also it has other features that the FSDs had, nose, radar, pitot tube, canopy, larger front fuselage,  wings, AIM launchers, tail planes, Vertical fin, wheels, underbelly fins, etc...

Happy modelling
