Well time for my final installment, abbreviated as it is. After getting the seams sorted out, more or less, I gave everything a couple of coats of gloss black lacquer in preparation for all the metal painting.

I let this dry for a few days to make sure the coating had fully cured. then I applied my base aluminum coat of AlcadII

Even though Alcad will dry in seconds, I let this coat dry for a few hours then started the masking process.

I applied varying shades of White, Dark, and Semi-matte Aluminum to the various panels. White aluminum on some of the larger panels on the wing tail and vertical stabilizer, dark aluminum along the leading edges and a few of the access panels and semi-matte aluminum for the flaps.

The exhaust nozzle got a shot of MM Burnt Metal and a touch of Alcad Hot Blue Metal.

From there I spent a few hours accenting the panel lines with Mig-Ammo's Dark Wash. Then started adding the external bits. The lower dive brake I drilled out the vent holes. and added the landing gear, pylons and atoll A-A missiles.

A lot of the shading variations are hard to see, but are there.

Added the canopy. I know, the canopy is not correct, but to be honest there's' not a lot that is correct on this kit. I tried to fix what i could, the rest,... I'll have to live with.

Finally adding the decals, of course, OEZ gives you lots of options and no instruction on where to put them. I went with the markings of the Czech Air Force. All kinds of what look like stencils in 3 colours, but since I don't where the would go I've left them off. On a positive note, the decals went on without any trouble.

When dry I gave everything a coat of gloss lacquer to seal everything.

I wanted to add the centerline drop tank but with the tank wouldn't fit with the gear doors in the open position so I switched to the wing drop tanks.

So there you are, not one of my best builds and a monumental pain to slog through, but completed. I have another OEZ kit in the stash, a SU-7 Fitter. After seeing how this kit went together I may forgo ever building that one and opt for a newer kit from Eduard. And definitely will attempt the Fishbed again from another kit maker some day. I hope you liked following along and I want to thank  @Corsairfoxfouruncle and @Enzo Matrix for putting this little build on.. I'll have the final images up on the Gallery here soon. So until next time, stay safe, stay healthy and Model On!:pilot:

Looks good to me sir. Sorry to hear of the troubles with the belly tank, but the wing tanks are pretty common sight and look good. Try the Eduard 1/48 kit someday, its an eye opener for how nice these can be.

Thanks Dennis, It's definitely on my to do/buy list now.:innocent:

Thanks MM Glad you liked it. Figures the one image I found of the drop tanks and I didn't pay attention that they were on the "outside" not the "inside". :wall:Easy enough fix, but I'll wait a few days. Now that I have my full attention trying to finish a  project for the Bomber/Strike/Ground Attack GB. and no where near ready to paint the outside and it ends at the same time, May 15th. Here of late I keep hearing the song "The Sabre Dance" in my head, while picturing myself keeping a bunch of plates spinning on thin poles.

I just read the thread - what a great build! I have had this kit in my stash since the late 90s and after reading this I'm pretty sure I'm never building it! But you did an amazing job. Well done!

Thanks bianfuxia. It 's not that bad of a model. But compared to Eduard and other kits, does need more work to polish it up.
