theplasticsurgeon
Starting a Harrier GR7, parts from this dual kit set. Gifted to me by a fellow archer, for helping with estate stales. Planning to use this scheme from another Airfix kit. FAA 800NAS Operation Herrick. Parts in this set are the first GR5/GR7 with raised surface detail. Same kit that I've built before in 2014. Two more of the newer GR7/GR9 with recessed surface detail remain in my stash.

theplasticsurgeon
So yesterday's disaster progress. This kit has separate parts for the intakes, and the auxiliary inlet flaps - presented closed up, Fast forward flight mode. I decided to chamfer the top 4 flaps, for parked pose. Then I found that the instructions have the intakes part numbers reversed. I've just chamfered the lower 4 auxiliary inlet flaps - no Harrier has ever been seen like that! So I chamfered the remaining flaps - take-off and ground running mode. And obliging me to install a pilot. So here he is, looking thru his HUD.
theplasticsurgeon
Canopy fitted. The sliding portion for this canopy was a bit wider than that of my previous build. Fitted with superglue, rather than my preferred clear fixings, and pinching it together has resulted in slight cracks above the pilot.
theplasticsurgeon
Today I airbrushed the flaps, stabiliser and rudder Humbrol 165. Can't find any 156 at my LMS, so looking on the bench for an acceptable alternate.
Col.
Is 156 still in Humbrol's enamel range?

After scrutiny of all the grey humbrol paints I have, I settled on 140 for the underside. Somewhere between the 165 for the flaps, and 164 for the topsides. And the demasked result. I'm very pleased with that.

theplasticsurgeon
Undercarriage. And up onto her pins I lost the bush for fitting the stabilisers, replacing it with a piece of plastic tube from an earbud.
