Loire 130, Vichy Navy 5HS-4 (No 46), Cruiser Dupleix 1941-42, Azur, 1/72

Recommended Posts

Hi,

The kit of Loire 130 was one of the early Azur production released in 1997. Since that time, so 25 years was waiting in my stash to be build. Finally I did it!

There are some important scratch work work details added. Starting from changes in inside, several windows omitted in kit were added, the vacu observed canopy was replaced by a scratch one. Th buggy was constructed.  The majority of PE parts was replaced by scratch one as well. The thread on build is here:

The machine is Loire (No 46) who served on cruiser Dupleix ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_cruiser_Dupleix_(1930) ) .

Here she is:

I added a little to the request for information about the beaching trolley. Looking at the pictures again it may have been just as easy to make a catapult dolly and sit it on a couple of girders to represent the catapult frame!

t's the Aeronavale's Walrus! I cant decide if it looks better than a Walrus or not.

That's a very nice effort on what is not an easy build. Good job on the beaching trolley too. Much easier than a catapult!

Many thanks Ed for your kind  and valuable help. The kit has many simplifications, and a large field to do some improvements,,,,

Wow ! Very nice,  I love these types of planes with a haunted silhouette.

Giampiero, many thanks! The flying boats are always with not that obvious silhouette due to compromises requirements of two environments, they have to fit in...

Best regards

Hi J-W,

Great looking Loire 130!!!

Congrats.

Like you, I bought this kit when it came out, along with the Late 298. Unlike you, I haven't yet mustered the courage to build it! The words complex and scratch building come to mind.

But I keep looking at it, so one day...

And like yours, it will wear the Vichy's striped pyjamas.

Great show!

Jean, many thanks! I am doing now Potez 452 and very likely the Late 298 will be next....I would say, that Potez is even more challenging that the Loire was.

Tony, many thanks! That true, she is a bit like a bus, maybe also like a cartoon pupy (the shape of the nose!) - altogether not a trivial subject ...

Gents, many thanks again!
