John Masters
I really think I might have saved this. The paint job looks good. I spent some time taking care of the metal areas on the exhaust nozzle; attached the undercarriage. The next couple of days will see the ordinance readied for attachment, then decals, etc...I'm hopeful. --John

John Masters
I woke up last night around 02:15, wide awake. By 02:30 I was back at the bench since I wasn't gong to sleep anytime soon. Canopy attached, rocket rails ready, ordinance painted...undercarriage door attached. I'm ready for decals folks. Lots of them. Stencil time. Some of you may have noticed that the radio antennae off the nose has snapped off. Never fear...I have the piece. It'll be the last thing that goes on. --John
modelling minion
Excellent use of the inability to sleep John. Good luck with the stencils, it took me a long time to get them on my 1/48 build, in 1/72 I think I would struggle. 🇺🇦

I am using larger pictures because these stencils are verrrrrrry small. The Eduard stencil diagrams can be intimidating. Yet, they can really bring a model alive. I am not stencilling the pylons...maybe...I said at the beginning that I would only do a few of the more obvious stencils, and then one thing leads to another and I pretty much do 90% of them...2 hours and I still have to attach the underside... There are more there now than in the photo... The wings look good this way... Plenty left... Tomorrow the rest... --John
modelling minion
Great job on the stencils so far John. A very sensible idea to use a larger picture for the decal placement, I tick off the stencils as I get them on as I find it helps with the motivation to keep going with them. 🇺🇦

Yes...and thank you... With so many stencils I throw away the idea of orderliness and just tuck in. Eventually I reached a saturation point and stop. By that time almost all of them have been attached.

I do put them where they belong, btw...they aren't just randomly stuck on there. However...in the case of 1/72nd scale Russian...some of them might be upside down! 😆
John Masters
All joking aside...my hobby is a very serious affair! 😆 The Mig is done. First, without whizz-bangs and no AK matte spray... And this is after the matte and the ordinance added. I am nit sure what kind of weathering I will do. Those stencils are still fragile, even beneath a layer of sealant. In either case, I will have it in the gallery tomorrow afternoon. I'll try to fix the forward antennae without snapping it off again. It's a little bent. --John
