rugbyfan
hi guys, in a bid to save money I've decided to go the freeview route. I was wondering if any of you have any recommendations for a freeview recorder or indeed which one to say clear off. I'm looking to buy from argos as it's next to me. philippe
Vince1159
I'd also look at FreeSat,when i gave up on Sky i looked a both but just check the channels of each one before you decide..
MikeyJ
I got the 500gb Manhattan DVR recorder from Tesco for about £130, been pretty good so far
Des
Replaced an increasingly unreliable DVD-R system a couple of years back with a hard drive based Humax Freeview HD recorder which has the same capacity and cost as the one the MikeyJ mentions above. The technology is well established now and I suspect that most in that capability/cost range are very similar , never had any problems with it although like the DVD player we replaced at the same time we have been using it less and less with time as we have increasingly been included in different family member's streaming services but prior to that very useful. Bigdave22014
If you already have a SKY system (I'm guessing from the trying to save money part) you can get a Free to view card which lets you watch the free channels. Call Customer Services.

Call Customer Services. Depends in which Sky system they have. If it is the new Sky Q then the equipment is owned by Sky and they absolutely do ask for it back when you cancel the service. If it is the older systems then they tend not to ask for it back and you can continue to use the viewing card for FreeSat only. Note you won't get any of the recording functions so it is a pretty poor solution in my opinion. Cheers, Nigel
Bigdave22014
I understood that the recording system still worked. Oh well.

One 48
Probably this will be the first luxury I will cut back on too, not sure of my contract with Sky offhand? have 3 Sky room q boxes, they can gladly have them back if they collect them or pay postage pick up as i don't find them reliable Will keep Sky for Fibre internet and mobile phone though ... or shop around. Never been much of a TV watcher, massive collection of Blu Rays and DVD's though for my cinema passion.
