Yeah..... the little Fiat has turned up!

Excellent stuff @drdjp11, I have to say I'm quite surprised its taken this long to see one, however now that it's here let's just rejoice in the fact we have one.

Cheers and best of luck.. Dave

Got around to the G-91 again. Just routine build stuff so far, but taking shape. It looks like I'm missing one of the ventral strakes, but that's about the easiest part to scratch build anyway.

And the underside...

I see you're from Seattle... was this project inspired by the G.91 “Frecce Tricolori” they have there at the Museum of Flight?

It used to be parked out on the grass in front, but I'm not sure where it is now (inside or under the Pavilion or in storage)

I let my membership lapse when they closed down in 2020 and haven't bothered renewing yet. If you haven't been in to the MoF recently you could probably get some good reference pics if you hunted their example down.

Here are some from a few years ago in case they help at all...

I hadn't actually thought of that. I grew up in the UK and saw the Frecce Trcolori at a couple of airshows in the 70's (probably Farnborough, but there were probably others). I'm a member of the museum anyway, so I can probably track it down. Meanwhile, these photos are good for both reference and inspiration, so thanks :)

It’s great to see this little Fiat taking shape. Another one of those Matchbox kits I acquired, then sold… now want back! This is all looking good so far, nice work.

Cheers.. Dave

Well, it's been nagging me for a few days that I didn't put any weight in the nose of he Fiat, so I decided to take drastic action. I drilled a hole in the underside of the nose, enlarged it to he size of some small fishing weights I've got, dropped in a few with some superglue, hen made a patch of plastic card, chamfered it on he back and popped it into place. Filed and sanded and almost done.

Did a big bench tidy up today and took stock of five models in work at the same time. Here's the latest on the Fiat.

Next up is get some base colours on it and get the landing gear ready to install.

and here it is nestled among three of the other four...

I was at the Museum of Flight last Friday and got the opportunity to ask what happened to the ol' Fiat G91.

It turns out some Italians bought it back a few months ago and it got dismantled, crated up and shipped back to Italy.

That masking putty looks like the aftermath of an oil tanker sinking and the beach clear up !

What's it like to use and can you reuse it ?

But more importantly how's the Fiat progressing  ?

Cheers Pat
