_alfisti_
Hi guys. My local modeller community runs a Falklands-Group Build, I decided to join with an A-4P Skyhawk from Airfix. I begun the build three weeks ago, so the construction is already a bit advanced. First steps were the cockpit section. I used a Quickboost seat, etched parts from Eduard an some foil to improve the kit pit. The rest of the fuselage and interiors followed. _alfisti_
Next on the list were the flaps. Airfix provides extra parts for the slats but not for the flaps. So I sanded down the flaps on the upper wing halfs and built them from sheet. I also decided to improve the tailplanes. On most pictures from Argentine Skyhawks the are shown in an angled position. This will become the loadout, following a picture taken before a sortie during the Falklands War showing a 1000lb bomb on a TER on the center line. Andrés S.
Good job Daniel!! I like your modeling style, modifying small details that in the end is what makes a model really nice. Andrés S.

_alfisti_
Thanks for your response guys, nice to see you following. @Andrés S. I agree with you, small, subtle details, which you don´t notice directly, give life to a model. Cheers Daniel
_alfisti_
Today's output, wings and fuselage were joint. Also added some details Airfix didn't count in. Some antennas and the HUD where scratched from clear sprues, styrene sheet and brass rod. Daniel

_alfisti_
Started painting yesterday evening and continued today. First step was some Tamiya xf-18 for the cockpit section to cover the clear parts and some Tamiya yellow xf-8 mixed with a few drops of orange xf-6 for the I.D. bands. Little bit of masking... First main color for the camouflage is Tamiya xf-13. For masking the pattern I used UHU Patafix/Tesa Blue Tack. The brown was mix with Tamiya x-9 and some drops of Tamiya x-3 and xf-18. _alfisti_
Finished the camouflage today, only some red for the flaps and slat and some nice light blue for the undercarriage and wheel bays are missing. First step was some Tamiya smoke x-19 to add some shadows on the upper side. Then again UHU Patafix/Tesa Blue Tack. For the light blue belly I mixed Gunze Light Blue H45 with some Light Gull Gray H51 and Chalky White H451. Originally it was the same blue as for the undercarriage, wheel bays and doors but on lots of pictures you can see it faded to sometimes nearly grey. ...so long...

heloman1
Excellent work, I haven't seen the 'new' Airfix Scooter but fondly remember the original release, which is sadly well 0passed it's sell by date. I had a passion for the A-4 in the days when I was seriously interested in US Navy markings. I like the way you have tackled this project. _alfisti_
A little bit went ahead today... First was a layer of Tamiya clear TS-13 for the Skyhawk and all the loose parts. Then I applied the few decals. I think the work was done in a hour or two... For the flaps and the TER I used some decals from the spare box. In the next few days I will give it another layer of clear coat and went to the weathering. Cheers Daniel
_alfisti_
Hi guys. Yesterday I started with weathering, I used a sponge and Tamiya silver x-11 and sky grey xf-19 for the chipped paint on the leading edges and the tail section. The wings were also drybrushed to simulate the worn down paint on the walkways. Then a washing all over the aircraft followed. Daniel

_alfisti_
I took the next few steps towards the finish line. The undercarriage was painted in a slightly darker shade of the light blue from the airframe belly. There´s only some BMF missing on the main landing gears, and some dry brushing for the whole parts. The external loads and flaps were painted with Tamiya TS-80 flat clear. Only thing missing is the impact fuzes of the PG 500kg bomb. The etched ladder from Brengun wents together very well, turns out really nice when finished. On the airframe are still some little details that need to be done, position lights, cockpit frame, painting antennas,... Daniel
_alfisti_
Finishing line is in sight... ...I put the Scooter on it´s wheels. For attaching the ladder I drilled a small hole underneath the cockpit as it´s on the original Skyhawk. Position and anti collision lights were made with Micro Kristal Klear and painted with Tamiya clear colors. Last few pieces to add... _alfisti_
As the Scooter is nearly finished, I started work on a simple little base. Only a piece of apron and meadow. I used Tamiyas grey primer and a acryl washing followed by a dry brushing with some different shades of grey from Lifecolor for the apron. For the grasland I used the very nice tufts from "Martin Welberg - Scenic Studios" and some snd and little stones. Daniel
_alfisti_
Today I managed to finish this project. Last few things were added to the Skyhawk. The base got a thin layer of green paint over the gras to reduce the plastic look and some infos about the aircraft. This guy came from a CMK set of modern US Navy pilots and consists of seven parts😣. Painted with Tamiya and Lifecolor paints and washed with oil colors.
