Terry1954
Looking at my Airfile book on the first generation Harriers (includes P1127 and Kestrel) I can see pics of aircraft without the VG's and with the VG's. Certainly a very clear one of number 4, XS694, and a shot of a few aircraft in formation where I think number 5 has them also. The shot is a side shoot but there is some glint along the top of the wing which look like VG's. I'm trying to upload a couple of the pics to show you Bill, but my phone has stopped talking to my Flickr account at the moment! Will post them when I get it sorted. Terry1954
Sorted......... I'm convinced you can see the VG's on these two........ T.
perdu
Number 5 is sitting not thirty miles away from here and being the one I am modelling I have plenty of pictures of her vgs and it's the ones back here in the walk through to corroborate. Looking at the book it's obvious the Kestrels used all the vg variations including the long line of them which became standard fit for the Harrier and the one this uses is the six in a row version.
perdu
Hmm, I think I need to attend to 'trestle here' marks for the ailerons and flaps. And for Johnny Aeronut the flaps are the ones nearest the fuselage, they move down or back together whilst the ailerons work in opposition to themselves. Right goes up and down goes the left one and Vicky Versus. I keep seeing extra marks I can fit... 1 1
perdu
Time to stand up for yourselves kids. Although the outriggers haven't convinced me yet. New mirrored tri-partites on and heavy dose of Daco Strong applied And baby came too. The JP owns a few antennae which are as yet, in the various boxes but with them and XN470 serials which are as yet, on the decal sheet I can put baby aside.
perdu
Part one? Does not convince me, if it convinces you please find it in you to convince me. Save me a shed load of extra braining work, adding up and removing any excess thingmies Its the depth of the remaining fairing above the wheel dooberry. Can you see it or am I confused? I think a tad shorter, do you?

Brandy
Shorter and a tad thinner front to back too. Ian

Ian I based it around the moulded part that Airfix put in the Harrier kit Ian, but I think you are right. At least this iteration gives me 'actuals' for the length of the components so I can eliminate guessworking.
hendie
I'd say about 1/3 to 1/2 shorter. Imperial or metric shorter... your decision!

perdu
April 4th, blimey we might have had another new prime minister since then, have we? No? OK Where am I? ah yes Harrier So many stencils to go and this is the Revell decal sheet have you seen the Airfix one/ Wow SO SO MANY STENCILS... I've done a few, port side only and will do some more later this week Probably Looking a bit impressive too. They tried to silver when laid on the shiny side so I borrowed Dr-Gn's well tried advice and laid each one in a small bubble of Humbrol Clear which did the trick, Thanks Garth. In the same section I did fernangle the outrigger legs for the Kestrel, this ought to do Ill be making the outrigger covers for these, soon be on the end track. The Kestrel's journey into Harrier certainly underwent 'Usefulness creep' didnt it? Still not so different from the original Hawker size though.

perdu
In better news (of late!) the Hind is back on her feet I know she's a bit of a fail but she doesn't deserve to get forgotten in a small cardboard box for infinity This irritating photo should not have been, the camera was sitting stable on the workbench without me touching anything but the operating button, drat! Try again Not now abandoned the reconstruct will go on slowly (It's me, did you expect otherwise) Also Hawker involved. The camera nose in now fixed for the Kestrel The outriggers look ok too But I am unhappy with the fin flashes, too big by far The GR5 has had some more of its myriad of tiny decals added Gods I hate them and have also noted the intake work needed Moving on, the Hunter is going back to the Paint Shop, shiny overlapping horrid roundels disease Today's lack of progress report concludes

perdu
Somebody stop me I keep looking at these things, the model 'notmuchalikes' I'm making I thought I was quite OK-ish with the Kestrel, ish so to speak, but the other day I took a look at the tail fin prior to marking where the fin mounted pitot was due to be fitted and I noticed it. 😲 The size of that tripartite fin flash, way over size look. One of you must have noticed, why on earth didn't you tell me? Sadists the lot of ya! Into the Paint Shop. Paint Shop Pro4 in fact and time to make some adjustments. That looks much more suitable, no? Trimmed down to .6cm in Word and this piece trimmed off the remainder of the white decal sheet. At present drying out the ink by the radiator, tomorrow it'll have a couple of very light fixing sprays of TS-89 followed later with a brushful, lightly wafted over it, of Micro Scale Liquid Decal Film. When dry I can fit new ones to the model.
