exdraken Posted February 21, 2022 Posted February 21, 2022 one in the GB is not enough... actually it would be... but I need to do at least one Frogfoot.... one of my 4 KP/ Kopro/ Smer kits before! the new Zvezda kit hits the stores! This is the newest release from SMER, same plastic, new?? decals - whatever... Neomega resin cockpit Brassin pylons Balkan Models decals (Macedonian AF??? ) ResinArt wheels maybe I have a aftermarket gun somewhere.. can't remember wish me luck and some fun! - hope to share it! cheers, Werner 11
Col. Posted February 22, 2022 Posted February 22, 2022 Cool! Glad to see you tackling this one Werner as I've the OEZ boxing of the kit in my stash along with the NeOmega cockpit so will be closely following your progress 1
exdraken Posted February 23, 2022 Author Posted February 23, 2022 started cutting some plastic it is soft in detail and material, kind of smelly when cut... stange! fit looks good though very nice cockpit detail from Neomega the Eduard Brassib pylons are very nice, maybe a bit hard of a contrast to the kits parts.... 10

81-er Posted February 24, 2022 Posted February 24, 2022 While the resin is naturally very nice, the kit looks to have a nice level of surface detail to it as well. James
Shorty84 Posted February 24, 2022 Posted February 24, 2022 Hi Werner, I see you are well prepared for another great build. I have the same aftermarket bits, but will unleash them on the Monogram kit. Just a heads-up regarding the Eduard pylons. While they are beautifully detailed, Eduard dropped the ball regarding their shape (which is strange as the 3D renderings on the box are correct ). I think this post in another thread explains it best: Cheers Markus

(at least I commented in this thread....) seems like some CAD detail did not make it to the printer then unfortuntely... I will see if and how to tackle that cockpit looks better in light blue than sand resin color: 8
exdraken Posted February 25, 2022 Author Posted February 25, 2022 some more color/ stuff, the IP is a bit weak if you ask me.. way too shallow .... maybe I find some airscale decals... 6
Col. Posted February 26, 2022 Posted February 26, 2022 A few Airscale instrument decals will finish off the 'pit nicely Werner. Good work so far.
exdraken Posted February 28, 2022 Author Posted February 28, 2022 intake tubing.... not much effort here really on my side... will be visible, but mostly hidden deeeeeep inside rear end (nozzle) could be more detailed.... some more cockpit as integrated... fuselage closed 9
Colin W Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 Looking good so far. Plenty of reference pictures on the telly at the moment! It might be the colour balance of the pictures but is the cockpit really blue? I thought these all had green interiors?
Col. Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 Good progress again Werner. How are the parts fitting together so far?

I thought these all had green interiors? hi, thanks, reference pictures ..... not so much, although this is planned as an ex Ukrainian Frogfoot in Macedonian service.... I hope not shot down Actually it could be even lighter blue... later Suchoi aircraft have rather a light blue cockpit, not the turqoise green ans on many MiG-21s... this is at least true for Su-17, Su-24, Su-25, Su-27 series...., the MiG-29 turned grey by the way 7 minutes ago, Col. said: Good progress again Werner. exdraken Posted March 2, 2022 Author Posted March 2, 2022 engine pods? mounted: fit is rather good the wheel bay, especially true for the main one are rather very plain..... found some AM stuff I will put to good use 7
Col. Posted March 2, 2022 Posted March 2, 2022 A nice selection of aftermarket upgrades there Werner. Are you planning to add anything to the wheel bays? 1

exdraken Posted March 15, 2022 Author Posted March 15, 2022 got a shippment from the48ers today! some PE for the fuselage and inside of the canopy mainly the Quinta cockpit set is immensely impressive, but too late... I guess the IP will be used though... the rest in the next one! the main parts mounted 6
Marlin Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Great build as usual Werner. Made me remember why I only bought one . I hope to get my paws on the Zvezda one, but I guess it'll take some time. Lots of people in the line in front of me. /Bosse 1
Col. Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Yet again another interesting array of aftermarket goodies Werner
exdraken Posted April 23, 2022 Author Posted April 23, 2022 long break here, actually all modelling related it seems... smallest possible update: landing gear doors made to fit reasonably well bare legs... kit wheels and resin art improvement still some more struts missing, maybe I can make some PE fit here as well 3
exdraken Posted April 28, 2022 Author Posted April 28, 2022 update regarding the cockpit this time: canopy fits well, good start! a bit of PE to improve its look, some handles should be sratched as well... we will see detail is on the interior, I guess I will leave the pit open then! I thik it might be wort it in the end... I replaced the a bt weak IP from Neomega with 3D printed one from Quinta.... already a bit darkened to blend in better... cheers, Werner 6

I think this post in another thread explains it best: comming back to this: I will try to do a fix by cutting the Kopro pylon, sading the Eduard one and join them... that is my prototype.... If I knew casting my own stuff I would not repeat another 7 times I guess windscreen mounted: 2 weeks left I noeted today.... hurry up! (at least I do not have a May 9 deadline..) 🇺🇦 5
exdraken Posted May 8, 2022 Author Posted May 8, 2022 wings on, canopy masked.. fin is still missing! d..n! but we thankfully got a two week extension.... thanks for making finishing possible again! 4
