Thats a very fine looking C54 indeed:like:. How did you create the very shiny metalic areas (behind the engine cowlings and the fuselage). Did you foil it?

Pete

No. It's just Molotow Chrome paint.

Great build @Fuad
I'm just reading a book on the Berlin Airlift, 'Bridge Across the Sky', which I can't put down. So nice to see an aircraft that had such an impact in keeping Berlin supplied.

I was also impressed by this operation - "Berlin Bridge". This is admirable. It shows which country had what intentions. Who really wanted peace and goodness. This is especially true now for those who doubt the Goodness of the Western world.

Yes, it is impossible not to draw comparrisons with current events concerning Russia.

That is very smart; bulled-up for AOC's inspection?  I believe it's not an altogether easy kit to build either.  I really like your low-angle shot too, great stuff.

Three questions if I may please: did you include the full interior and how many tons of nosewight did you have to use and where did you manage to cram it all in?

I really like the look of you C54 Fuad!

One small note is that the rudders and ailerons of a DC4/C54 are fabric covered 😉

Revell did this wrong as well as they copied an aircraft that was restored with aluminium in place for durability and didn’t need to fly.

Nevertheless a great job on the bare metal 👍

cheers, Jan

That's a fine model. How I miss the sight and sound of these rumbling low over my head on the landing approach, their distinctive nose-down attitude on full flap, as I sat near the threshold of the N-S runway at Essendon Airport, Melboune, Australia in the 1960s.

Yes, I applied a full set of etching for this model from BIG ED. The interior is fully worked out, but I don't like open cavities - that's why you can't see anything.
The cargo (lead shot) is pushed into the bow, into the chassis niche area, behind the bulkhead in the cockpit. The plane is quite impressively heavy. I'm afraid that the front leg of the chassis will not break.
You are right - the model is quite labor intensive. I pored over it for almost a month.

Revell has nothing to do with it. I riveted the whole model myself and made it completely metal. However, I do not have detailed drawings of this aircraft.

Really excellent build, love the metal effect on the fuselage and wings. Might have to buy one for my collection, beautiful aircraft! Cheers, John
