stever219
I'm currently working on ruining, in my usual fashion, the Airfix Phantom kit that my good friend @avro683 bought me for Christmas. Understandably the aeroplane has been photographed extensively but one area, or rather two areas, that seem(s) to have escaped attention are the engine air intakes. What I'm trying to ascertain is how far back down the intake ducts the black paint was applied: the instructions suggest that it went all the way to the compressor faces but that seems unlikely. Unfortunately most images are from the "wrong" angle(s) or the blanking plates are in place. I know that '582 is now in the tender care of SWAM at RAF St. Athan but that's a bit far to go from darkest Bedfordshire on the bus, even with a WrinklyPass. Any information will be very gratefully received, thank you.
