Selwyn
And don't say trumpeter, as it isn't going to happen! 🤣 I don't buy their "almost" kits.  Looking for a suggested way forward to convert?  Selwyn
Giorgio N
This one:  https://www.alleycatmodels.co.uk/early-english-electric-lightning-conversion-for-f1-and-f3-new-f2a-airfix-kit-6376-p.asp  Together with the Airfix F.2a kit  Of you could look for the Sword kit, that however seems pretty hard to find at the moment Edited February 7, 2022 by Giorgio N
Dave Swindell
The original Airfix kit was an F1a, should be relatively cheap and easy to find in it's various boxings on the second hand market After that for something more up to date you're looking at converting the new Airfix F2a with the Alleycat conversion as suggested by @Giorgio N, or converting a Sword F1 kit. Giorgio N
Speaking of the Sword kits, the F.3 would also work as the plastic in both kits is the same, with different decals. Both boxes include both types of fin (pointed and square) and the IFR probe. You will have to add decals if using the F.3 box and of course the same applies if using the Alleycat conversion. There have also been other conversions in the past (Maintrack for example) but meant for older kits (Matchbox or Hasegawa). I'd not bother with them

Duncan B
Another vote for the Alleycat conversation or a Sword kit although it's not very difficult to build one from the newer Airfix kit. I converted one of their F.2A kits back to an F.1 just before Alleycat released their conversion set and I didn't find it too difficult at all. I had an old Airfix Lightning kit in the stash that I hacked the belly from and reshaped the fin and wings from the new kit (the soapy plastic that Airfix use was easy to work with). viscount806x
Didn’t the Sword kit have the inappropriate alternative fin clipped off the sprues, depending which kit was bought ?
