MFH Crocker Hemi-Head 1936 - polishing question

Hi everybody,

I just received this new kit from MFH, this is my first metal kit.

The manual has a color scheme, and for a few parts (like exhaust pipe) it is mentioned "polish", it should look nearly as a chrome finish

Does any of you use this "technique" ?

Once done do you clear coat the polished part ?

Thanks for your help

Thanks a lot, that's what I thought, so let's clear coat.

But as obviously the clear coat will be applied without any primer, is it going to stick properly ? Better use lacquer or acrylic will do ?

Polish the hell out of it .

Clean it really well with evaporative cleaner.

Keep your fingers and everything else away from it.

Hit it real quick with a light coat of a lacquer clear.

Lacquer so it dries immediately and wont collect dust as it does.

The kit looks to be really nice and really nice when its done.

There one done on the MFH FBook page.

Good luck.

Try rubbing it with the side of a needle, or something like a metal ball on a stick.

This will quickly create a chrome like finish.

Any good gloss clearcoat will protect and enhance that shine.

For that little extra use a clear metal primer before clearcoating (automotive, Tamiya)

Thanks everybody for the replies,

So I'll go for Mr metal primer after polishing, and probably Tamiya clear coat lacquer on top (should be compatible I hope).

I'll keep you posted about the result
