Good to see this one started Alistair.  Looking forward to this.

Chris

It's about flaming time that I got moving with this one. :D

Here we are on page 2 and I've only just started butchering plastic.

Cheers,

Alistair

Once the primer was dry I threw some Tamiya Hull Red and ColourCoats Interior Grey Green in the airbrush and pointed it towards the plasticy bits.

I'll let all that dry overnight and then mask up for the Aluminium.

Oh, yes, nearly forgot I've sprayed some Tamiya LP-1 at the stand.

That's it for tonight.

Thanks for looking,

Glad to have you along,

I'm working again soon so having to resort to abstinence, it's very nice of you not to put temptation in my way.

Looking good Alistair, although that stand does look rather like a bizarre medical contrivance!

Thanks Roger,

It does look like something out of a Cronenberg movie.

Although not as bad as the one my Dad described to me that they were threatened by the MO with to dissuade them from anything untoward on shore leave in Port Said in 1944.

He said it was like a small pole but had a type of umbrella fitment to it which would be used to scrape out an infection. :door:

And we think a nasal swab is bad - enough to make one's eye(s) water 🤣

  Just reorganised the stash and the same kit passed through my hands. Will follow to see if I should dig it out and move it up the queue.

From memory, SH used parts of the Mk.V designs for this one, so you may have to do some dry-fits to see if the cockpit side panels will keep clear of the bottom wing half.
I've had to trim a bit off on my Mk.V.  Then again, it is SH so that should not be too much of a surprise :D

Masking was masked, Aluminium was sprayed. The hairy stick came out and Nato Black and Steel were applied.

I did some work on the IP with the film and photoetch and got so engrossed I forgot to take any photos until bits had been glued.

Firstly the V-1 is joined up and Mr. Surfacer applied to the seams.

The cockpit side panels were glued in place.

The head rest fitted to the seat back.

Finally the IP photoetch applied and Krystal Kear dropped into the dials.

It's still drying in the big dials and the compass.

Thanks for looking,

Thanks Simon,

It's all tiny steps at the moment as work is really getting in the way.

The V-1 had wings and tails fitted. A smear of PPP was required at the wing roots.

It was then sprayed with Tamiya Neutral Grey.

I just need to do some rescribing and it'll be ready for some colour.

The pilot figure was given a coat of Tamiya Flat Black and then Flat White was sprayed from above.

Once all that is cooked and I get some time off work I can get on with painting him.

As @alt-92 had warned me about the fuselage to wing fit due to the cockpit side panels I thought it was time for a bit of a dry fit.

Everything looks good there and it all fits at the moment.

Thanks for looking,

Thanks Andy,

Of course it may/will all go horribly wrong when there's glue involved.

Cheers,

Alistair

Hmm.....I suppose you could try sellotape instead 😆👍

Glad the dry fit went well looking forward to seeing the pilot progress too

Chris

Thanks Chris,

I'm heading into unknown and very scary territory here.

I'll need to see how it goes. If it all goes horribly wrong then there won't be much to see anyway. :D

I've been watching a few videos so I've got some ideas about forward progress.

And, yes it does involve me using a brush.

You, Sir, are a bad influence.

Cheers,

Alistair

That`s one of the rules of modelling Alistair.

Good to have a check fit though.

All looks OK from here.

Hairy stick work...

Simon.

Just keep splashing paint on your pilot until he looks good, that’s what I did with my Spitfire pilot…. And remember, he can’t really be seen under a closed canopy.

I’ve not come across this technique of black then a white coat from above…?  What’s the theory of this approach, inquiring minds want to know!
