Don Donato
A new kit from Zvezda (SU-85 in 1/35) comes with a tow cable made of thread. Has anyone worked with it or painted it?
Ade H
Apologies that this won't be a direct answer, but what's to stop you from replacing it with multi-core twisted wire rather than trying to get a result with string? If you don't have any, this is the one which I use and recommend: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284357442624 Edited January 27, 2022 by Ade H added link
pigsty
The big drawback of string is the lint. If you coat it in a dilute solution of PVA, you can stick down all the little hairs - and it makes the string stiffer, too, which helps with laying it on your model and bending it realistically round projections.
