PK110 HS125-600

Recommended Posts

Hi Martin

Thank you so much for bringing this one to the GB, I was beginning to fear this was going to be one of the few not to be built.

Are there AM decals available  ?

Best of luck with it.

Cheers Pat

Me too @JOCKNEY, this GB wouldn't be the same if Matchbox's excellent HS 125 was not built here. I'm delighted to see it finally making a belated appearance so thanks so much for choosing to build it here.

Cheers, welcome aboard and best of luck.. Dave

Xtradecal have a sheet that covers various RAF schemes.  And a couple of the smaller specialist producers have a couple of other options.  Hawkeye Designs have a sheet for the two aircraft operated by Qantas in three different liveries.  26 Decals have one for the Maersk colours (the earlier, mostly white scheme, I think), and MAV Decals have a South African Air Force set.

The Qantas aircraft were originally built as 1B series, but modified to 3B series. The Airfix Dominie kit is more suitable.

The 600 series had a 3'1" fuselage extension compared to the earlier models.

Thanks for that

Thanks Scott . And the Airfix Domonie is around again . Not good for stash reduction .

Matchbox decals are remarkably resilient. Don't write the kit sheet off, if you're planning one of the kit schemes.

John

The are still in the running although the roundels are out of register . Easily replaced . The plan is for the RAF kit scheme to keep the kit original

Well done finding this one, it is one I would like to do if I had the chance, then compare it with the Airfix offering which I recently got.

Good luck with the build,

Ray

Hi All

Started just dry fitting and cleaning . Then the glue came and this is the result . Enough echoes of BEA to start thoughts of starting something else . Must focus or nothing is going to be finished . Must be those red wings . Thanks for dropping by

Hi All

Some progress . The office has had a basic treatment .Not much to be seen anyway . Clear parts and weight added and closed up. A dusting of primer in spots mostly around the cabin windows to reduce the time the liquid mask needs to be in place . Thing should start moving along now. Parts fit is good so far . Thanks for looking

Ready for masking and primer . The parts fit is good with very little filler needed . Hoping the black background improves the pics too. Should be more soon . Thanks for dropping by

Well it is primed . A few areas needing attention but nothing major . The white should be on tomorrow . Looks like enough weight to avoid tail sitting

Evening All.

I have been battling with white paint . I got an blotchy finish on the gloss coat that looked like a lunar landscape . So sand , prime , sand again . The fun stuff but slowly getting there . Hoping to get to the final gloss coat by the end of this weekend . Thanks for dropping by .

I feel your pain Martin. Looks like a decent day of recovery is required, but it will all sort itself out in good time. Think it through and best of luck, white can be such a pain to apply, but looks really good when finished well.
Cheers.. Dave

Hi All

This is where the beast is after sanding and about 3 coats of matt white to give a reasonable finish . I will add a fine coat of gloss to shine things up a bit . Getting  there slowly

Thanks for dropping by Sorry about the bad lighting

Hi All

This one is still kicking . Gloss white coats are done . Engines painted ready for fitting . First coat of aluminium on the leading edges . Now the backward step . The tape over the windscreen leaked drastically so it has been removed and is now enjoying a bleach bath in the hopes that it can be salvaged . Replacements for the out of register roundels have been located in the spares box . The blue cheat line looks suspect and has been given a coat of decal bonder. That about wraps up the hurdles so there is still hope . Thanks for looking in and apologies for the lack of updates
