72modeler Posted January 25, 2022 Share Posted January 25, 2022 (edited) I remember we had a discussion a while back on the damaged DC-3 that was given the RH wing from a DC-2, after being damaged in a Japanese bombing raid; here is an interesting article that describes that incident as well as other instances where one airplane was saved by using major sections of another. Couldn't get away with that nowadays! Orso Posted January 26, 2022 Share Posted January 26, 2022 Reading the article I remembered that there was a "Frankenplane" Viggen. The fourth prototype -4 had a short life. First flight in May 28, 1968. It crashed in May 7, 1969. The forward part of the fuselage could be saved and was used to build a new prototype, -7. (It did crash 1975.
