viperchief
Hi all! Here is my completed Korean War F-51D. I came across a pic of a Mustang with these huge rockets and then found out that Brengun makes them in resin. I had to do it! I used kit decals, PE seatbelts, and painted with Mr Color Super Fine Siler 2 (great stuff!). My first attempt at going for a really war-weary appearance. Comments/critiques welcome! Thanks for looking! Rich Edited January 25, 2022 by viperchief
Farmerboy
I think you nailed it, looks war weary and the rockets are something new to me, only criticism is that the exhausts look to clean compared to the rest of the aircraft..
Jackson Duvalier
🤩 Very nice work, and with Tamiya decals, no less! I particularly like the shiny data stickers on the dull prop blades. The weathering isn't shocking. TBH I think you could have gone much heavier, considering how nasty the Mustangs in Korea could get.
ForestFan
Very nicely built and finished, those rockets look like they pack a punch. As for the 9% beer, I don’t think I could cope with too many of those!!
RidgeRunner
She's a beauty, mate! I love your fine wear and tear on the anti-dazzle. How did you do that? Salt? Martin

Thank you! Good point about the exhausts. I'll work on them a bit more! 14 hours ago, ForestFan said: Very nicely built and finished, those rockets look like they pack a punch. LOL!

Salt? Martin Thank you! I sprayed MRP "Jet Black" first, then used Tamiya Panel Liner "Grey" on the recessed detail followed by Mr Color 182 "Flat Clear". Finally, I used a silver Prismacolor pencil for scratches. No salt used.

Sky Keg
As an Ohio resident, “Buckeye Blitz” always had a special place for my affection. 😍 I like how your`s turned out. The Tiny Tim rockets only add flair to the overall presentation. Mike

Bertie McBoatface
That's really good. I like the weathering which is so often overdone in small scale aircraft. I think you have it just right.
kapam
That turned out beautifully! Would easily pass for an F-51 of a larger scale (only the beer can gives it way)! Superb.
David Koktavý
I think you managed the build well. The looking with rockets is impresive. I also appreciate you managed to glue canopy well as there is a pin in the rear which is commonly disruptive, but not in this case.
Pedro1
Lovely build, I like the tattered look of a Korean war Mustang. What did you use to fix the clear part of the cockpit hood to the frame? The Tamiya kit of the Mustang looks like a great kit but I find it annoying they supply the the hood as two separate pieces. I have the kit in the stash and have been wondering if I need to use a vac part instead. Peter

I used "Tombow Mono Liquid Glue" to attach the canopy to the frame. Can found on Amazon. Rich
