StuartH Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 This popped up on Youtube. The Tank Museum are releasing these books in Collector's editions... https://tankmuseumshop.org/products/churchill-cromwell-tank 1
John Tapsell Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 They have recently republished Landships and War Cars as a single volume in this style, along with Mechanised Force. Previously they have republished The Great Tank Scandal and The Universal Tank as well. 1
Kingsman Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 For those familiar with the original editions, the reprints are a smaller format. 1
dromia Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 Any insights as to the quality of the information therein. 1
Kingsman Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 Written by David Fletcher in his former capacity as Museum Historian at Bovington with unlimited access to their archives. Which to me means "enough said". But no-one is infallible and time has passed. I understand that the new editions have been re-proof-read for errors, corrections and new information. They are full new reprints, not just pdf scans of the old editions as some "reprints" turn out to be. Like the Hunnicutt books. The photo images have been re-scanned at today's quality. 1 1
John Tapsell Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 To echo Das. They are by David Fletcher - 'nuff said. Despite the age of the original publications (1980s?), the core material is still excellent and well presented. They are technical histories but read very well and have a good selection of images, stowage diagrams and some technical illustrations. On the strength of the other reprints the Tank Museum have done recently from the same original HMSO series, I've pre-ordered both. 1 1
nheather Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 I’ve already ordered, early enough to get the signed certificate and my name in the books. I figured it was £30 for two books, £15 each and profits go to the museum. Cheers, Nigel 1
