Col.
Nice subject choice Dermot That hull/turret piece looks as if it gets you to the 25% completed mark already out of the box

Dermo245
Right, better get a shift on with this one! Started off with glueing the two part road wheels and suspension arms. 1_72_Trumpeter_AS-90_Wip (1) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Nice level of detail for the scale 1_72_Trumpeter_AS-90_Wip (2) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Then adding bits like lights, mudguards and towing hooks to the top hull.. 1_72_Trumpeter_AS-90_Wip (3) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Then on to the turret adding stowage boxes, the mantlet and gun breech. 1_72_Trumpeter_AS-90_Wip (4) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr That's it for today, more tomorrow! 1_72_Trumpeter_AS-90_Wip (5) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Cheers, Dermot
Col.
Tidy progress Dermot. Glad to see you getting this one going.
Bertie McBoatface
I find it hard to get excited by small scale armour but this big boy just about gets around that. There's plenty of detail and until the extra thin appeared, it could have been 1/35. I'm looking forward to seeing how well it takes paint. Keep up the good work.
Dermo245
Thanks everyone, appreciate it. More turret bits added and dry-fitted to the top hull. 1_72_Trumpeter_AS-90_Wip (6) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Cheers, Dermot

Dermo245
Right, been dragging my heels long enough on this one - some progress at last! Primed everything with Black 1_72_Trumpeter_AS-90_Wip (7) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Then experimented with some Value Gear stowage bits.. 1_72_Trumpeter_AS-90_Wip (9) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr 1_72_Trumpeter_AS-90_Wip (8) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Happy with what's planned. Some paint on next - this was a mix of Tamiya XF-57 and XF-60 in a ratio of 3:1 respectively. Happy with how it looks. 1_72_Trumpeter_AS-90_Wip (10) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr The tracks will go on next and then join up the hull top and bottom. Thanks for looking, happy modelling. Dermo245
Thanks all. Time for decals and thankfully just the ten of them. 1_72_Trumpeter_AS-90_Wip (11) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Then glued on all the stowage. 1_72_Trumpeter_AS-90_Wip (12) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr And some washes/weathering in progress. 1_72_Trumpeter_AS-90_Wip (13) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Thanks for looking. Col.
The difference your washes and weathering process has made is impressive Dermot; nice work
Dermo245
Thanks all. Tried my hand at free-hand chipping. Not my best and a little too big for this scale...but again, learned lots from it! 1_72_Trumpeter_AS-90_Wip (14) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Then some dry-brushing of the stowage and a spray of W&N Flat, and she's done! 1_72_Trumpeter_AS-90_Done_ (16) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr 1_72_Trumpeter_AS-90_Done_ (18) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr 1_72_Trumpeter_AS-90_Done_ (12) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Must admit, I enjoyed getting out of my comfort zone with some armour - the track links (not enough of them) were a pain and have hidden the gap under the side skirt. I love the stowage by ValueGear and really adds to the finish I think. Will post some more pics in the Gallery, thanks for looking and happy modelling. 81-er
Lovely result there, Dermot. The Tamiya pots bring home just how small this one is, which makes it even more impressive! James
