Adam Poultney
So there's this nice image of some 617 Sqn Vulcans and Victor B1/B1as lined up at RAF Scampton in 1963. A similar image is printed at the beginning of the Vulcan B2 Haynes Manual which is large enough to read the nearest Victor and all the Vulcans' serials from (Vulcans XL319, XM575, XL321, XL317, XL318, XL361 and Victor XA927) and also shows that the version below from the IWM site is actually mirrored. https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205214803 The IWM has incorrectly labelled the Victors as "six Handley Page Victor B.2 aircraft of either No 100 or No 139 Squadron (from RAF Witttering)". They are in fact Victor B1s and Victor B1as; you can tell clearly from the base of the tailfin and the intakes. So, can anyone help on finding an identity for the remaining five Victors that I cannot read the serials of? I think it's a reasonable assumption they're all from the same squadron, so if anyone has a record of which squadron XA927 was on at that time it might be a good starting point.
RedhillPhil
XA 927 was at Gaydon with 232 OCU when I was there.
