Hi.
I'm slowly returing from the Land of The Plague, aka Covid-19. :D
The fever is gone, and on Friday I think I can go outside for a walk for the first time in a fortnight.

I've managed to get some more things done on my builds.
I've more or less finished the airintake for the F-16, and here I've found a better way to get the airintake in place.

So I deviate from the instructions and don't mount the forward bulkhead (C46) to the wheelbay.

I glue it to the airintake instead, and that way the whole air intake assembly fits the airframe much easier.

I've also got a new tool from my youngest son Axel.

He's also into Diamond Painting, and the stylus that you pick the diamonds to make your painting i a superb tool for glueing small plastic and PE parts.

I've got the airintake in place on the F-16, but I still got that annoying 1,5mm gap where the inlet meets the landing gear bay.

I've also done the exhaust for the F-2.

The DXM decal sheet also included carbon fibre decals for the petals.

When that was done I deceided to get the stenciling of the ordnance done right away instead of having that boring chore remaining at the end of the build.

Hi. :D

The first week of my Olympic vaccation is coming to an end.
I've almost recovered from Covid-19, but not fully.
I'm feeling a bit weak and don't have the same strenght as before.
So I guess it was a blessing in disguise that I contracted it two weeks before my vaccation.

I've been doing some more works on my builds.
The Taiwanese F-16 has showed some new issues with Kinetics F-16 kits.
On my earlier builds has the "donut panel" been slightly to large, and I've had to sand it down to the right diameter but not this time.
51874793591_1e8f6bbe23_k.jpg071 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr

This time the diameter was spot on, but I did get a hairline gap on the topside.
51874793611_3c8c6ae160_k.jpg072 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr
It was easy filled with slices of the thinnest Plasticard strips I had.

But the trouble spot in the nose section with the too short side panels is the same on this kit as the rest I've built.
51873832242_a33e5239cd_k.jpg073 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr

The short nose panels also makes the nose section a bit small, so you get a gap where the nose section meets the nose cone.
On my earlier builds I've just puttied this section, but I've now tried to clue a plasticard strip to the nosepanels and then blend in the plasticard to get the right nose profile.

The F-2 has been fully painted and gloss coated, and I think I'll put some decals on it during the day.

Really good work so far Bosse, glad you're getting over the covid and hope you have something to cheer in the Olympics! 👍

Thanks Alan. :D

I'm having a wonderful Olympics.

Our long-distance skater Nils van der Pohl just beat his own World record at 10.000m and took, what's indicated, his second Gold medal. :yahoo:.

Hi. :D

It's the start of the second week of the Olympics and the last week of my vacction.
During the weekend have I been putting on some decals on the F-2.

I initially had planned to use the light coloured Grim Reaper, but when I opened the decals I discovered that the darker one was in gold I changed my mind.
51877825135_7054f57c27_k.jpg077 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr

I really like the Japanese stencils for their high visibilty look.

Why have only one walkway line when you can have two, and in contrasting colours as well. :D
51878314055_204ce7d129_k.jpg080 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr

There are about a gazillion stencils on the F-2 and they're very hard to see against the wet decal paper which makes them a bit of a chore to place on the aircraft.

51879662676_ed742fda1a_k.jpg082 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr

And since they're are so hard to see makes me only managed a few at the time.
My neck and eyes only manages for about an hour at the time.
So think I'll be putting stencils to the F-2 during the next coming days.

Hi. :D

My vaccation is soon over and on Monday it's time to get back to work.
I've been watching the Olympics too muh this week and have neglected my builds some what.
But some small things have been made.

I've done the decals on one side on the F-2.

51886980291_fe5538f3ec_k.jpg085 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr

And when I was doing that I saw that I would have one wing station empty, and that's a thing I don't like.
The JASDF has it's own medium range A2A missile, the AAM-4.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AAM-4
AAM-4.jpg

But they're not included in my kit.
They can be found in Hasegawa's weapon set; J.A.S.D.F Weapon set A x48-10, which of course isn't avaliable at any online store I use.
But the Kinetic F-16 Taiwanese box has a pair of Sparrows, which according to Wikipedia has the same diameter and length as the AAM-4's
So I'll make my own AAM-4 using the Sparrows and a pair of AMRAAM's.
51887308034_c1481ed5d3_k.jpg086 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr

So I've cut down the aft Sparrow fins and changed the profile on them.
51890430761_5470b99ccc_k.jpg087 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr
And I've used the front fins from the AMRAAM's

With a little paint and some stencils I think I can get these to look like two live Japanese AAM-4's

Hi, and thank you Gents. :D

Even the best Olympics comes to an end.
Sweden did their best results ever during a Winter Olympics with 18 medals, 8 Gold and 5 Silver and Bronze medals.
I'm really pleased with our results and I had a terrific time watching it, but now I'm back at work after being at home with Covid-19 for two weeks, and two weeks vaccation.

Some more stenciling on the F-2 has been made.
I tried to finish them yesterday after Finland won the Olympic Gold in Icehockey.

I estimate that I've done around 80% and I only has one wing left to do, and some that are going on to the canopy.
DXM's decals have been great to work with.
I only have got some light silvering in some places, but nothing a dash of Micro Sol couldn't handle.

I've also painted the Taiwanese F-16.
51893426923_b8e2228a7c_k.jpg095 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr
The underside and the forward nose sections are painted and I've just started to put on Gun Ship Grey on the aft fuselage.
Now that I'm back at work and don't have full days to work on my kits I guess I can paint the F-16 fully during the coming week and have it ready for decals the coming weekend. :D

Hi,
Just wanted you to know that my builds will be on hold for a while.
Last week I got the notice that my mother suffers from cancer in the pancreas and that it has spread to the liver.
Unfortunately no treatment will help.

I'm sorry to hear of your sad news Bosse. I can only hope your mother does not suffer too much indignity or pain from this horrible disease and rest assured you are not alone if you need to chat.
