1:72 Bucc! & what a story to tell about it...

Recommended Posts

Good evening.

The bucc is actually almost done! Just thought I'd share how things went.

It all started 20th December with the gear bays...

Then...

The next day, my father tested positive for coronavirus! No school for me! On one hand, I was happy because I finally got to spend my birthday at home for once.

On the other hand, I wasn't able to celebrate Christmas with the rest of my family, had to visit them once self isolation was over.

After I took a PCR test, I immediately went back to modelling. Speedbuild time!

In one day, I went from this:

To this:

Quite a bit of progress.

After that, it was just putting together the subassemblies and finishing the painting.

I then took a break to celebrate the new year and a late Christmas with my family! (Happy Christmas and new year by the way everyone!)

Last night, I finished painting and added the first pledge coat.

Today I applied many decals.

Here it is with the rest of my British jets:

Only rocket pods, many stencils and weathering left to do!

Unfortunately, exams and prelims are looming so I may not get it done soon, thought I'd post this though at least as I am excited by the progress I've made. I must say that for brushpainting, I am very happy with how smooth this is!

Some have asked elsewhere what paint I use, for the grey in this I used revell aqua colour blue grey.

Hope you enjoyed reading! See you all later.

Nice job!  Speed build, eh?  Well, you're hired!  Now over here I have "about" 100 kits in the stash...you can start after the exams...

I think I have enough models for at least a decade or two:giggle:

Doesn't mean I'm going to stop buying though :mental: (in my defense someone has to keep the local hobby shop in business:D)

No I don’t understand it,I scratch build a lot and  I know I already have more kits than I’ll probably ever build but I keep seeing more that I want. I can only imagine that’s it’s a similar  irrational compulsion that drives  my other half’s shoe and handbag collection.

Very nice buccaneer btw.

I've got 19 of those kits in my stash!

Plus decidedly more secured throughout the workroom...

Only about 10 decals left, I was hoping to finish this in a month (today marks 1 month). Unfortunately, these stencils are so miniscule they require a lot of care and attention so I'd rather go slow than rush and mess it up.

The grid in this photo is 1cm×1cm, these stencils are probably 1 or 2 millimeters!

Slow and steady will win! Standby for more updates (hopefully sooner rather than later!)

I didn't change anything I'm just not sure whether this even uploaded.

Plenty of options there if you want to join the upcoming Big and British group build!

When is it? I have preliminary exams until Feb. 9 so I won't do much modelling until then, I am intrigued though...

Looks great!

I am impressed that you got through all the stencils. If stencils get so small I can't read them I either leave them off or make a little mark with a fine black marker to represent the text. That way nobody can tell me I put them on upside down.

+1 for Revell acrylics, love 'em.

Regards,

Adrian
