1/72 ICM new tool Mig-25 intakes

Howdy all, I have one of ICM's new Foxbats and a lovely kit it is, however I am baffled by the size of the compressor face at the end of the intake duct.

It seems to be decidedly undersized and I wonder whether the XMM intakes correct this detail with a much larger compressor disk.

Also, has anyone oredered from them before and what results?

Cheers!

Yes, I've ordered from XMM several times and never had an issue.

Hi Robertone139,

I haven't ordered from them yet but am about to, as soon as they get a few more 72nd items back in stock!

I'll let you know when it happens!

Cheers,

In the old Polish booklet 'Stalowa Blyskawica' there are frame drawings of the MiG-25. They show that the air intake change from a basically square cross section to a perfect circle, roughly at the well bay. They last one before the engine (I believe) is 13.5 mm in 1/72 scale. So I would expect the compressor face to have that diameter. That's almost a meter in 1 to 1 scale. What size are the compressor faces in your kit?

A couple of years ago, I started improving the ICM MiG-25PD, that had no ducs at all, just a wall behind the intake. I installed a bulkhead with two 13.5-ish mm openings, then started building forward with lots of plastic card and Apoxie Sculpt. Rather ambitious, and it got the wind knocked out when I heard that later issues had ducts. If it now turns out that those are of the wrong size, I could be motivated to continue the work 🙂

Just a thought - perhaps it's a conscious case of forced perspective, designed in the kit, to make it look like the engine faces are further back than the fuselage breakdown permits..?

Cheers,

No Andre, I am not compaining about the depth, they are just about where they should be, it' the compressor disk diameter that is too small.
