Alpha Delta 210
Hi During a recent visit to Oman, I was delighted to photograph this Clipper from the Oman Air jet I was in. I had never seen one before, and according to Wikipedia, the C-40A Clipper is the "United States Navy version of the Boeing 737-700 for high-priority cargo and passenger transport". (I can't work out why the second image is smaller.)
canberraman
Lovely stuff, but shame they lack unit markings. Nice catch btw. Mark
janneman36
Nice catch Alpha Delta thank you for sharing. Navy clippers however are a seen on a regular basis in Europe. This one was taken in the Netherlands (EHRD) and several paid visits the last years. cheers, Jan

Happy new year! I hope you're well. I don't know why they are "discrete" - perhaps to enable them to use civilian airports without attracting too much attention? 16 hours ago, janneman36 said: Nice catch Alpha Delta thank you for sharing. Any idea why they land in the Netherlands? Do they coincide with a US Navy ship arrival?

Evalman
Yes, shame they are so anonymous looking. They are fairly regular visitors to the UK, I saw one on VR tracking across England earlier this week, not sure where it went. This one paid a couple of visits to Newquay in Oct and Nov last year.

There is really no connection to be made with such movements…I had/have no information why they came or come to Rotterdam. cheers, Jan
Alpha Delta 210
Thanks for all the replies guys. I was told that there was a US Navy ship nearby, so I wondered if the Clipper was used to facilitate crew changes.
